The original pitch for the comic was intergalactic True Grit with Supergirl and Lobo in the roles of Mattie Ross and Rooster Cogburn respectively. Lobo was eventually cut from the comic and probably ended up better for it, but for this adaptation 100% worth it to get Momoa in the role.
