Re: the XKCD graphic, it's pretty neat. Although some of them are so old, I don't know if enough people in those areas would still remember them. Tbh, from Florida's west coast, I remember Andrew and only Andrew. Dat shit was televised, and the destruction was pretty crazy. I'll get back to you about the cartoon character! I loved my cartoons as a kid, hard to pick one and explain it.
Garfield was always my favorite cartoon/comic as a kid (still really like it) namely to his sarcastic dont care attitude and subtle wit. I always got a kick out of it when he said someone needed to be drug out into the street and shot.
I always thought Jubilee from the x-men was interesting as a kid but not in a positive way. I watched the animated series growing up and always wondered why the teenager with the ridiculous yellow firefighter coat was running around with glitter powers that seemed all but worthless in the grand scheme of things. And with as many mutants as there are in the x-men it's awonder I remember a character like her and every tiny facet about her character development. In terms of the animated series, she's the robin to wolverine's batman.
I was actually curious how accurate that image was from XKCD. He's usually spot on with his graphs. I haven't lived on the east cost (well recently texas now but I'm not really there on the coast).
That hurricane infographic/comic is fascinating. As a recent transplant to Florida, I'm still talking about tropical storm Debby (two years ago), as it was my first storm of that nature. So I answer the question here? Okay, here goes: As a kid, I was in love with Slimer from the Ghostbusters cartoons. My brothers and I would get up every morning and watch the show, and I'd laugh at Slimer's antics. I can barely remember why I was so obsessed with him. Maybe it was because he was the comic relief, the friendly ghost that came around sliming everyone and everything. I'll always remember the rest of the team yelling at him for getting his green goo everywhere. My brothers and I had the whole firehouse set, complete with all of the action figures. Good times. That's really (sadly) all I can really remember from that show, it was so long ago.
You say thank you but your wallet is giving me dirty looks. XD Kidding. Let me know how it is, I'm like this close to getting it!
Thanks for reminding me that Curtain Call comes out tomorrow.
I just don't care about the rest of BG. I'm selfish and amazing.
Nice try. You guys talk about that in chat enough we don't need a newsletter. People can just come to the chat to hear you guys talk about your food and his poop.
Can we just interview people on BG Chat. Callisto and I can discuss food and it's subsequent effects on the bowels.
Dang those are a lot of ideas, a lot of good ones too. I love all the good ideas flooding in. I'm going to give some of them a try next week and we'll watch this thing grow :D
I feel honored to be mentioned in Mina's/BG's first newsletter. I look forward to more Possible additions: Youtube video of the week, News headline (non gaming) of the week, perhaps some sort of writing prompt that you could ask people to write their opinions on and submit to you, and you post the best answeres (this would be in addition to the member of the week where more of the focus is on the content, not so much the person, something like.. "where do you see the gaming idustry going", or "what has been the best X in the last year"), a random old thread pulled out from the past, weekly trivia question, a weekly editorial by some random person on their views of something or other, website/business promotion, foodie section, joke of the week, cartoon of the week, upcomming bdays for the week. That should spur some ideas!
Thumbs up. Something else I'll add to my weekly read list.
Very cool, I really like the idea of this! You did a great job with it Mina.
Thank you! :D Every Monday morning should bring in some new threads, new bg person to learn about, and new releases to talk about. I hope this is fun for everyone involved. :> My goal is to generate fun discussion as well staying informed about BG! Oh and of course if I forget anything in my newsletter for each week feel free to post it here in the comments. There's no way I can catch everything after all.
Good read, always like reading things like this from BG. Thanks Mina
I won't let that happen. The only reasons why a person won't be picked is... 1) they don't want to disclose about themselves (once declined, I've added them to a list of names to always reject) 2) if they are not an active member (haven't posted/logged in the past month--hard to get in contact with someone who isn't online) 3) they refuse to follow the interview rules which is 'breaks any of the rules we have on the forums' which shouldn't be an issue because of the interview questions are what you see above. EX: if you start talking about an emulator and rom link and want me to link it, it's not going up in the interview. 4) they don't respond to my pm for the interview in the time span given. I'm trying to make this stay ahead of schedule so that way people have a longer period of time to respond. edit: 5) they were already picked in the past, we have enough BG members that there doesn't need to be retreading of the same ground. So far the random member generator has given me 7 people that I've never interacted with on the site outside of my birthday pms maybe. And the people I interviewed I did tell them that they are free to stay their opinion on the games, positive, negative, indifference, informative, etc... I will not censor them unless they break a rule on the forums. I'm not going to divulge who are the next people coming up but believe me when I made sure that this was fair.
