The wife and I were watching tits and blood (True Blood) the other day, when someone was corrected for saying black people instead of African Americans. She thought it was ok, I told her I'd ask some professionals..

Not all black people are from Africa, or descended from Africa. I remember reading an article where a lot of black people said African-American was offensive to them.
Nigga please.
^ This.
African American never made any sense to me. What if you're not in the US? You can't go to England and start calling black people African Americans. What if you're here in the US they're not from the Americas? I think this is some retarded shit that only happens in the good ol' USA.
+1 for honky
When I worked on "Beverly Hills Fabulous" (show about a black hair salon), on day 1 of filming one of our white crew members (the whole crew was white except the director basically) fumbled around on the "black, I mean, um, African-Amer....) and the all-black cast just cut him off and said "hey, everybody, we're black" and they all nodded in agreement. Wasn't a problem after that.
sometimes when im feeling frisky, saltine is good.
