    Quitting Smoking (herbal remedies)

Been smoking for about 2 years straight almost everyday. Going to be moving out of state and where I am going I can't exactly smoke like I am use to. I hear if you have been smoking like that, the withdrawals are pretty fucking terrible. I went like one day and had like absolutely no appetite. Any tips for someone uhh detoxing for the first time?

This definitely isn't permanent, once I move back to California I will enjoy that club quality shit.

    You're talking about pot?

Pot has no physical addiction whatsoever...

^This. Really hope you're not talking about pot. It's so fucking easy it's not even funny.

Edit: Yes, it is all mental. If you can't quit, you have much more serious issues than just smoking pot. aka, absolutely no will power or motivation.

While it's a known fact that marijuana isn't physically addictive, it sure as hell is mentally, just as any positive/fun activity can become if done often enough. For the first week or two after stopping everyday smoking, your appetite will be curbed for a while, and you may have a hard time falling asleep as well. What I would suggest is to do more exercise in your daily life to not only work up some kind of appetite, but also help with falling asleep at night. Exercise will also help get the traces of THC in your system flushed out faster if you are in an actual detox situation where you need to get signs of MJ use out of your body, like a piss-test for a job or something.

But yeah, do things you enjoy doing that will keep you occupied and not thinking about how you want to get high, exercise to help get a normal appetite back if possible, and try to make sure you are tired at night so you don't have a lot of trouble falling asleep and it shouldn't be much of a problem.

It's a habit, not an addiction. Two different worlds.

maybe it's cigs because of a higher state tax? and yeah, calling bud an "addiction" is rude to addictions

If falling asleep is your main problem i would suggest finding a 24 hour gym not to far away and going there about 4 hours before you normally go to sleep.

also if you have any pieces or anything paraphernalia like, get rid of it it'll only temp you!

Thanks for the good advice. My main concern was with my eating habits, because holy shit does my appetite get fucked up. If I don't have anything that sounds good, I usually don't eat until I am practically starving.

Didn't meant to insult anyone with an actual addiction but I have been doing it for so long non-stop, that I am honestly not sure what to expect.

Even nicotine can be gone completely from your body in 3 days, and then it's all about breaking the habit and mental addiction, but people still relapse months/years after their last cigarette. I don't know why anyone would think that breaking the habit of smoking pot would be any different

Being completely gone from your body is exactly the problem. With nicotine, your body doesn't make things to the extent it normally would, like dopamine, increased glucose and lowered insulin release, among other things, that create a physical withdrawal.

It's not like there's nicotine sitting in your brain telling it to bring in his brothers.

The only effect pot has of that direct type is in creatine production, which is not something you feel like an illness.

As to why people get offended/overreact...

I think it's because a responsible smoker should know what they're doing, and an awful lot of us have taken the very little time it takes to get a good grasp, and are disappointed when we run into those that don't.

Irresponsible smokers are the last great threat to decriminalization, imo. See: the California failure based largely on the fear of stoned driving.

It's a shame clove cigarettes are illegal in the US now, because I think that's the major reason I was able to quit. I tried a pack of regular cigs after they got pulled from the market and it just wasn't the same. Hell I even tried the replacement mini cigar things that came out and those tasted horrible.

who cares about stoned driving? shit is already down to 2k a pound in ca. if they were to decriminalize, it might drop even further to possibly even a normal markup range.

    and @op, seriously?

    The voters.

Prop 19 looked like it had a good chance to pass and would have been near full legalization/regulation of pot in California.

Opponents (ironically, largely funded by drug dealers that don't want to compete with a legit business) launched a huge campaign about how if it's legalized, there will be stoned drivers all over the place.

It worked, and the prop failed pretty badly.

the vote was super close, and the major reason it failed had nothing to do with people that were probably going to vote no anyways, aka people that would think about stoned drivers. it was because alot of people that are in the currently in the business voted no because change is bad and they were (probably rightly) afraid it would affect status quo. sure though, the swing voters not being scared off by that and other stupid reasons certainly would have helped with how close it was.

You guys are nuts... I don't know much about the quantifiable chemical basis for pot addiction or if there even is one, but it's no joke. I knew a kid in high school who smoked weed pretty heavy for a couple of years and went cold turkey, and his face broke out so bad that it was just fucking abhorrent.... like it was so fucking disgusting you couldn't even look at him. He had to take a semester off for medical leave, because it was just disturbing to look at.
