    pagefile.sys ?

    I have a pagefile.sys file in my D drive taking up 4gbs according to WinDirStat. I want to know what it is and if I can delete it safely

    Pagefile (aka virtual memory) is for using your harddrive as backup RAM, in case your RAM gets full. Anything loaded in RAM and not in immediate use can be copied over to the page file to free up RAM for what you are currently using. Windows doesn't work well without a pagefile. It's usually at least as large as your installed RAM.
