Connecting to the internet with my laptop kicks others off.

So, whenever I go to my sister's house and connect to her internet(wireless), it causes my sister's desktop(wired) to lose its internet. Anybody able to help me figure out what's going on and how to stop it?

Normally I just google this type of stuff instead of bothering you guys, but I have no idea on how to word this problem so that I get helpful results. I keep getting "How do I kick people off?"

Try fiddling with the IP configurations and/or the computer name in the network.
Check the dhcp configuration in the router.

Back in 2004 or so I had the same problem with my spcific combination of a Belkin wireless G card and my friend's D-Link G router. If I connected, his router crashes and it was like we had pressed the reset button on the back of the router, all settings were reset to factory default. I ended up having to use a different wireless card.

I'm going to randomly guess that when you connect it gives you her local ip address, which results in her not having one anymore. Check the router to make sure that the ip distribution range isn't stupidly small. To test if this is actually the case check her local ip address before you connect and yours after you connect.
