Looking for TV Info (For future PS4 pro and general informations)

Hi everyone me again, asking more questions! this time it's about TV that i'm looking to buy. I'm sadly on a tight budget so i cannot buy the 2k+ TVs

Anyway before asking about TV models. here is my first question

    1) Is TV size for distance really important?
I found this site here and I don't know how relevant it is

    http://ca.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-s...e-relationship

But according to this, to maximize the viewing of my LG 1080p 42inches TV I need to be at like 5.9feet of the TV. My sofa is currently at 10 feet.

    2) Looking for a good budget TV
I'm not interested in buying right now, but i'm looking at prices atm to prepare for blackFriday/Boxing day.

The goal of the TV i want is to play PS4 pro and watch hockey mostly, I do not own bluerays or 4k movies because i stream it all from my Plex.

I heard that for PS4 pro i should look into 4K and HDR. I do not need the latest version but something that is good for a PS4 pro while respecting if possible the 10feet between my TV and my Sofa (if needed i'll just move the sofa).

So i wanna know if there is hope for a TV that is under 1k (before taxes) that could fit my needs? Don'T forget that i'm canadian!.

    Thanks all

    Just use the site lol.

Basically, for that price, your best bet is going to be a ~50". If HDR is your main concern, get the Sony model in that link.

I still have the rule of thumb in mind: screen size (diagonal) multiplied by 1.5 to 2 is the optimal viewing distance. The site you linked seems to suggest something similar, they use a factor of 1.6.
If you're further away than the "optimum" it's not a big deal, you just shouldn't be closer. And as the site explains, past a certain distance to the screen you can't distinguish between 4k and 1080p material (pixel wise).

If you wanna invest in a 4k screen, getting one with HDR capability is probably a good idea. But as far as I noticed the 4k market is quite chaotic currently since all companies try to establish proprietary standards and/or can't agree on a common one...

Which of those 4 you think would be the best choice?

    1) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01CHZXLG0/..._JcM-xbAMXG0GC so 1262 with Taxes
    2) https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-UN55KU...rds=un55ku6290 (might have a special price for this one will know tuesday)
    3) http://m.bestbuy.ca/defaultpage.aspx...321&lang=en-CA (951 with taxes)
    4 ) http://www.hhgregg.com/haier-65-4k-u.../item/65UF2505 (comes about 867 with taxes)

    Some notes

    1) My current Wall mount support max 60 inches, so i I by the #4 one i'll need a new stand or a new desk to put the TV on also #4 is from Costco Canada so i have by default 2 years warranty
    2) Only the LG one seems to support HDR TV #1
    3) the #3 i heard Toshiba doesnt make TVs anymore so if i need repairs might be stuck
    4) #2 is pricier but atm i can have it for 1.3k with taxes and my father in law might be able to get me a price on it, not sure yet

Once again my goal is to watch hockey and play PS4 pro (atm only PS4 pro will be 4k) my PVR is not 4k atm, but with my budget it's all slowy one piece at a time.

So is there any TV that is a must buy atm or should i wait for black friday and hope?

Probably can't help with choosing a specific model, most of my knowledge about 4k is from reading about what came out or was announced for the european market. (we still use a "good old" 32" 1080p TV and don't plan to replace it unless it breaks )

The only thing that's really important: look out that the TV has at least one HDMI 2.0 port and/or supports HDCP 2.2. Those are the latest specifications, and there are surprisingly many TVs on the market that don't have either...
And more of a personal thing, but I'd recommend a "dumb" over a "smart" TV... Those "smart" features and apps are mostly crap, full of ads, slow as hell or a real security nightmare... For "smart" features you're way better off with getting or building a media box with Kodi.

I'm in a similar position, looking to replace ten year old tv with horrible burn in sometime after xmas, but figured I'd do some basic work to have an idea what I'm looking for, does this one seem pretty decent? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER
might get ps4 pro/scorpio so I'm trying to futureproof
