    Delve

    Delve details on SoA site:

    http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/adoulin/index.html

Armor is augmented along upgrade pathways offering customizable (but presumably set) augments.

This has a ridiculous amount of potential just based on the little information there, so I hope they don't screw it up. Note that this is an alliance event, not a party thing.

(This info was posted in dev tracker discussion a little bit ago, but should probably have it's own thread.)

    Yeah, especially considering this:

"Only the valiant pioneers who have bested the Naakuals in wildskeeper reives and tackled the lurid fiends during skirmishes can participate in the toughest challenges Vana'dielians have ever faced. Fight to the death against forces unknown and prove your worth!"

Not sure how participation in Skirmish is recorded or verified, what level of participation will be needed, etc. I'm guessing we won't know more until the official notes on Monday.

Didn't they already say that it wasn't that you needed to have cleared the Naakuals and Skirmishes, but that you needed to have gear from those places in order to have a fighting chance, or to make it easier?

naw they said if you are having problems in the new content please do salvage 2.0 and buy reive gear to suck less. They said that beating the naakuls and doing skirmish was a requirement for entry at least twice now.

All the teaser pictures that show off the content shows player models in actual gear you would come to expect them to wear for the given situation, that's probably the first time I've ever seen then do something like that, usually it's just player models in full af3 or full pearl / aurore going hard in the paint on some huge bad ass looking NM, I hope the content is challenging for a 6-8 man team, as much as I'd like to see 18+ man events back in the game, it's also something I'd also not like to be a part of as I'm not to fond of large group content that bottle necks gear acquirement. Wild Keeper Reives are probably my only exception to that as there is no real bottle neck there for loot / spoils.

So it sounds like an interesting system where you have a choice

    - You can either use use a yggrete shards to bring 3 lesser NM's into this dimension and after you defeat the 3 NM's you get some kind of temp KI or item that is traded to a fracture to prevent these 3 lesser NM's from spawning in the fracture

    - You can skip the lesser NM's and go straight for the fracture and have to kill 3 Lesser NM's and 2 higher NM's in one battle.

Defeating the fracture gives you access to the final boss. I'm guessing that feet hands legs and head drop from Field and Fracture NM's and Body Pieces will drop from the Main NM fracture battle.

    random note.

yggrete seems to be a word derived from yggdrasil?
which we know from the SoA video to be a topic of interest in this expansion.

i like how they're tying all the elements together somehow. its much better than 'yay travel to the past' and 'oh hey, moblins are digging tunnels'

The horrible luck I've been having getting pieces for a simulacrum will assure I'll never see a single piece of this gear.

Delve is legion 2.0. There are two types of ffxi players ; those who treat ffxi as a game and those who treat ffxi as life. Clearly SE is back-logged creating mission content and the "life" players are already flying through the wildskeeper reives and the skirmish content. The solution is delve. The "life" players can spend 5 times the amount of time as an average player to earn gear with an extra STR point or two or what-have-you. Everyone else can continue to work at their own pace over the next few months to earn Bayld, skirmish and Naakuals gear (all of which will be plenty to proceed trough the storyline). If you have the time and an event catered for the "life" players is your cup of tea, then by all means have at it.

if that's the sqirmish title that's needed, which requires V parts, lol. SE making content for 3 person across all servers.

Delve clarifications from Matsui. Great info, answered basically all questions I had and more:

Reminds me of when Evoliths were semi popular. It seems interesting - hopefully SE doesn't screw it up

Therefore, in order to host a "Delve" event, the key items that can be obtained by defeating the seven Naakuals are required.
Gotta be that you single out each Naakual equivalent on a delve then surely? Unless they are planning on releasing the remaining 4 Naakuals next update.

Like defeating Achuka lets you host the Achuka related delve. Rather than you must have killed all 7 Naakuals to be able to host at all.

Surely. I doubt it's a coincidence that the Wildskeeper areas line up perfectly with Delve areas. I believe all four missing Naakuals correspond to areas not in the game yet, and I doubt any more are coming until at least the next version update.

Well that news definitely is a relief to those like myself that do not have any Naakual KIs yet (though I plan to try this weekend). It also means you will not have trouble getting people together to do the event thankfully. Needing 18 people with all KIs would be a monumental pain, especially when key support jobs may be people who do not play enough to have the bayld to even attempt the regular versions.

    Looking good Matsui!

I was referring more to those people who play sporadically but have essential jobs for this content (think an emp horn BRD or well geared healers) that would not have time to spend farming the bayld needed to enter the reives. Though again, we will see how much the reduction will be, especially since the gear we are going to get sounds like it will surpass what is attainable from the Naakaul.
