Some questions about Grand Companies

I know there is a lot we don't know yet but I thought I'd ask anyway. As usual Google is not terribly helpful in this regard because of the lack of concrete information and a good wiki for FF14.

1. What are the GC questlines like? Is there even an actual questline or just a bunch of quests?

2. Do GC quests involve running around the cities and talking to a lot of NPCs? If so I might go with the Twin Adders since I like Gridania's greenery.

3. I hear that GC gear is not terribly useful and does not differ that much from GC to GC. Is this true?

4. Is there any way to switch GCs after you pass the Recruit rank? Can you "complete" all the quests in one GC and then switch? (like countries in FF11)

I'm interested to know more about GCs in general too. Specifically about #4. But I'm going to assume so, since they have all three GCs in the achivement list for you to do.

You begin to receive story quests from the Grand Company, but you can also flag optional ones, I got one that told me to enter Dhezmel Darkhold.

Didn't notice any yet.
They might not exist in the form they did in 1.0 as Yoshida said that GCs will be part of main story now, not a 'side-story'.

Yeah that's what i meant by quest they are Main story quests that you flag through the Grand Company, I dont know what the DD quest is or if it leads to something else but the reward is seals.

Didn't want to start my own topic, but GC Seals and Tradecraft Leves...

Do you get seals for doing Tradecraft leves at the encampments? I read something about getting GC Seals from leves but I don't think I've ever seen them.

You get seals for doing GC battlecraft leves, there aren't any GC DoL/DoH leves but rather the supply/provision system.

It's similar to turning in items for GP at the guilds in XI, not really the same kind of thing.

You can get a decent chunk of seals for relatively common items but you can only turn in items every so often (I forget what the schedule is).

What's the bottleneck on promotions? SFC now, and I'm somewhere between Haukke and (presumably) Titan in the MSQ.
