Side swiped by the city bus lol does this really surprise anyone? Seriously?

So I got side swiped this morning by the city bus. (Collided with it 4 times total. Started falling after the first, tried to catch my balance went upright back into the bus another 3 times before finally getting knocked off)

Neither it nor any of the cars behind it bothered to stop, so I technically have no witnesses. Called the police right away and filed a police report.

Considering it's the city bus, I figured I may want to look into some legal action.

Some cosmetic damage to my bike, but it still rides, ankle hurts like fuck, got some scrapes/road rash, and they ruined my favorite pair of shorts


I don't have insurance, so I turned the paramedics down at the scene.

3 to go; lol. Been hit 4 times; (5-6 if you want to count minor shit that didn't even make me fall off my bike, like the lady who nipped my back tire at 2mph or the guy in the truck who hit my backpack (protrudes about 3-4 inches off my body)

If you have the time and location of the incident, finding the bus that swiped you shouldn't be too difficult. The pain is going to be dealing with the red tape bull shit.

They already found the bus; it was the number 19 and a guy I saw at school told me that at his stop the cops had everyone get off the bus and she had to go back to the scene; the only problem is that it's my word vs the bus driver's. None of the cars stopped when it happened. So I have 0 witnesses.

I would think that they generally would side with the person that got hit four times, has road rash, and an ankle injury over the person in the huge ass bus that didn't even stop. Wouldn't this be at least a "leaving the scene of an accident" thing?

EDIT: Also, there should have been some witness on the bus itself unless it was empty, no?

Potentially, but doubtful. The bus was stopped near my school, which is 9-ish miles up the road from where I got swiped. Bus probably didn't have very many, if any of the same passengers. And of the potential ones there, one would have to have been sitting on the right side of the bus and actually looking out of the window

The problem I see with that is that the bus driver could easily say they never hit him, and instead say he crashed on his own and is trying to get the city to pay for his medical expenses since he doesn't have insurance.
