BG's Worst Games of 2019

It's been quite a year for bad, and sometimes unfinished, game releases. So much drama and wasted cash spent. What is your shit game for 2019?

Anthem might be the objective worst game of the year but Pokemon was the biggest letdown and far more people were looking forward to that so it gets my vote.

Anthem. Just ugh. I can only enjoy schadenfreude of people pissing away their money on terrible ideas they hope and pray will be good before I'm just sad that companies keep getting away with it.

Went with Pokemon cause I got it for Christmas and am playing it atm. I'm older and much more critical of things, and just ..so many dumb choices were made. It's been going downhill since B/W but..wow.

Why did my rival pick the weak element?
Why does he appear every 10 minutes interrupting me for nothing?
Why is EXP share always on?
Why did they cite animation improvements when animations are about the same or worse than they were on the 3DS?
Why does the frame rate dip below 20 in the "muh open world" area and why is the pop in and out so untouched?
Why cut the national dex and moves, gutting competitive and cross-game interaction that's been a staple in the series?
Why do NPC trainers look the exact same for more than 2 battles in a row?

..and so much more. I have so many questions.

Was between Anthem and Pokemon for me, and I had to go with Anthem because at least Pokemon is a functioning game. But Pokemon was a really close second.

This has been pretty well addressed by them at this point. If you ever think the national dex is coming back, I've got some bad news for you.

Across the board, there haven't been a ton of games that really stood out, but Anthem is definitely the biggest bust.

I completely forgot Left Alive was even released this year. There are some titles on that list I feel don't belong since they'd be more a case of potential disappointment to some (how Death Stranding ended up, or directions taken with RAGE2 over the original, for example), but they seem competent enough as-is, unlike something like Anthem/WWE2020 which was a complete technical mess. Anthem is definitely up there because of the pedigree involved and what a mess it ended up being along with EA scrambling over the player reception.

Not going to vote since the only thing on the list I did play was Death Stranding which I enjoyed, and getting Days Gone soon enough which also looks like my cup of tea.

Unf. Please don't compare old Bioware and new Bioware. It essentially 2 different companies. They should have a different name tbh. Thank fuck someone competent (extremely so) has the license for BG now and not EA.

I guess I should vote Anthem for almost tanking an entire studio. We’ll see if Anthem 2.0 saves them in the way A Realm Reborn saved FFXIV.

I actually spent most of yesterday playing Octopath. I love it. Reminds me of Chrono Trigger.
