Kabam, in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm today announced the development of Star Wars: Uprising, the first mobile game to take place after Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi and before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Developed by the industry-leading team at Kabam RPG Studio in San Francisco under the direction of Senior Vice President Aaron Loeb, Star Wars: Uprising will allow players to create their own unique character, go on missions, and build their gear and skills, while amassing a powerful crew and cartel to join in large-scale sector-wide battles that dictate the future of the game universe. Players will also be able to engage in real-time co-op with friends against the Empire.

Star Wars: Uprising will introduce a new chapter of the Star Wars universe that will illuminate dramatic events in the Anoat Sector, inclusive of Hoth and Cloud City, following the Battle of Endor and the death of the Emperor. Players will learn hundreds of abilities and collect iconic Star Wars gear to create their own takes on the next generation of heroes: Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, Rebel Guerilla, Diplomat, Gambler or something completely unique.

Brief (less than a day of play) impressions:

+No stamina-like system so you seem to be free to play as much as you want. There are dailies for money and sector battles (world events) but otherwise no real limits.
+Very "Star Wars" feel to music and sound. It's more authentic than you might expect for a mobile game.
+Collector book for literally every item you collect, with bonuses for every new item and completing sets.
+Seems to be some multiplayer functionality.

~Lots of combat skills to choose from but moving is kind of sluggish. You have 4 skill types and 1 passive, skills activated by...
-Double tapping a spot not near your character
-Double tapping your character
-Tap'n'drag away from your character (makes you shoot the opposite way you drag which is kind of confusing)
-Super button
The first 2 of those can be kind of annoying to use on melee enemies.
~Global chat is as you would expect for global chat of a mobile game of a franchise this popular.
~It's a loot farmer. Everything has levels and tiers.
~Can't sell/salvage anything until level 10.

-Too much "fanfare"/slowness when collecting anything new.
-Combat might not be that exciting. Tap to move, tap on bad dudes (once) to make them dead. Insert skills, repeat. No auto-battle kind of thing that I've seen yet.
-A little unstable. Crashes on opening world map sometimes.
