At the end of Psychonauts (Spoilers, you guys!) Raz is recognized as a great PSI-Cadet and is asked to join his tutors as a fully fledged Psychonaut! But just as Raz is about to go home from camp with his father, news arrives that the Grand Head of the Psychonauts (and Lili’s father) Truman Zanotto, has been kidnapped. The team, Raz and Lili included, fly off in the Psychonauts jet to rescue him. It’s time to tell that story!

Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin will bridge the story gap between the original Psychonauts and the forthcoming sequel! Did we mention we were making a sequel? Well we want to, anyway — help us make it a reality!

The morning after the announcement I tried to get in on the early bird backer and it had a few hundred spots left but in the half a minute it took me to click the donate button they ran out. I know this is going to get funded so I think I'll just sit back and grab it when it's inevitably on sale on Steam.

Fell behind milestones on the Double Fine Adventure (later known as Broken Age) after raising three point three million dollars for it. They ended up releasing it in two parts because it couldn't be finished on time. Schafer's well known for being bad with a budget and not being able to hit deadlines.

They also left an unfinished Early Access game (Spacebase DF9) with a ton of left out promised content. They left Early Access and went full release with tons of stuff missing and published part of the source code so people could mod in what they didn't develop.

He's also just generally kind of a self-important prick.

As much as I'd love to see Psychonauts happen, I'm pretty iffy on contributing to funding campaigns for games now.

Funny enough Inafune was the one straw that broke this camel's back. I just hope Bloodstained doesn't meet the same fate.

If all of Inafune's bullshit counts as one straw, it is a straw made of osmium at best. Kickstarter has produced some of my absolute favorite games of the last few years: Shadowrun, Shovel Knight, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin, Republique, Skullgirls, Wasteland 2 just off the top of my head. I'm cautiously optimistic about Psychonauts, but no way in hell am I giving that man any money to mismanage.

On top of that, it's fucking Psychonauts 2. I think it's complete bullshit to say "we had to crowdfund that because no publisher would pick it up."
