Just became official finally after a ton of rumors since the first game. Now the question is how badly are they going to screw this up?

Fuck yes?
Mass Effect, now w/o renegade interrupts...
Haha that is one downside for me as I did like the play through renegade plots a lot. Seems from the comments on that site that Matthew Fox is the popular choice for the lead so far.
Goddammit, no!
I will remain hopefully optimistic. At least until the first trailer is out.
from the source site
How good the film will be will hinge IMO on the amount of input bioware has on it. Hopefully it will not be Shepard that is the focus of the film, or at least not a retelling of the main game story lines.BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk will serve as executive producers, as will Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson.
I'm not seeing this workout. Well, for the fans anyway. Game is too highly regarded, and there is just too much information to fit in a movie, thus the movie will always feel incomplete. Unless it's a three parter.
Only makes sense with how awesome the plot is in the mass effect universe. I can see a good movie being made out of it, but only so long as they try to make it their own and not base it so heavily on the games events that it ruins it.
The connection between games and game movies is a small one. The devs being involved doesn't really mean the movie is going to be better.
who's directing it? or it CGI
CGI movies still have directors.
I think this could make for a good movie, but not a good "Mass Effect" movie, which is a retarded statement but I'd think everyone who plays the game would understand this. So much of the games is that the whole thing revolves around the choices you make, that unless this movie is screened on a person to person basis with a little clicker to direct the action (live action choose your own adventure!), it just won't feel right.
new avatar is my face when i read this article
I played through Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 more or less at the same time, so I realized just how much story/talking the game has. That said, I'm sure they can cut out most of the random dialogue and just focus on Shepherd vs the Reapers. Also, I imagine it's be almost an entirely Paragon Shepherd, can't imagine them having much Renegade..
It has potential to be amazing if it's done in 3d and they have miranda's ass in it.
Shepard could keep dropping things and she would bend over and pick it up for him. For 2 hours.
In before it's canceled like Halo movie, Warcraft movie, and probably a few more I'm forgetting.
Spoiler: show
do. not. want.
game is too good to be spoiled by execs trying to milk the franchise, when will they learn?
Nah, this has a chance to be good. I just hope Seth Green is casted as Joker.
Edit: And as long as they get the voice actors to play the major parts, like Tali, Captain David, Liara, and so on. Most if not all the voice actors have real acting experience.
