Movie Blockbusters of 2006.

Recently, there was an article of the "Top 20 Movies of 2006" in a local Pittsburghish magazine. Also listed was the highly anticipated ones. They checked off some good ones, Pirates 2, Snakes on a Plane, etc.

Since I'm a huge movie buff, I'm curious to what everyone expects/enjoyed out of the recent/upcoming movies. My list goes as:

Superman: Amazing. Well acted from the new comer Brandon Routh. amd Kevin Spacey is incredible as well (The Life of David Gale ftw.)

Pirates 2: Top grossing movie of 2006. A lot of friends enjoyed it, ending pissed me off. I'd give it a 8.

Little Miss Sunshine: I managed to see this before it became a hit. The little indie film that could. Very funny, Steve Carell was hilarious.

There might be more of the past, but they probably didn't stand out too well.

The one movie I am looking forward to see is Crank. I'm hoping to get into a private screening soon. The Illusionist looks good as well.

surprisingly the only movie ive seen in the past year was superman. i used to be a huge movie buff when i was in high school and stuff but now i could really care less. although i agree about the illusionist looking neat.

p.s. anything with will ferrel in it is garbage. him and ben stiller are the most 1 dimensional actors ive ever seen. so shitty. =(

NINJAEDIT: i think i should explain the oblivious part. invariably in every movie one of these idiots will make some kind of remark that will cause someone else in the scene to look at them like theyre stupid. this happens at least 10 times per movie and makes no difference to the characters these 2 play. its where the "funny" comes from in these movies i guess. besides the cheap physical comedy.

Will Ferrel is a good actor, he just needs to sign a serious movie like Adam Sandler in Spanglish. If Adam can do it, Will can.

Will is a COMEDIAN, he makes you LAUGH... He's a funny guy and you can't deny that. Ben Stiller well... he's Ben Stiller (he did a good cameo on ''Curb your Enthusiasm tho''.

Now back to the thread, the only movie I saw this year was Xmen3 and I was really dissapointed. I wanted to go see ''A Scanner Darkly'' but it only played in Ottawa/Hull for 1 week, so I missed it.

As for the argument on Will, yes he was funny. I prefer his SNL days over his movie career. There was this one particular skit on SNL when him and two other cast members were news broadcasters and their teleprompter went out. Fucking hilarious. As for him being a serious actor, I think we've all seen the movie that glorified that:
Bewitched

However I do agree he has the potential to be a serious actor. Vince Vaughn, Robin Williams, and Jim Carrey all come to mind.

You think Vince doesn't play the same character in every movie? This argument is like beating a dead horse on these forums. Vince Vaughn has played the same exact role ever since Old School. Let's look at most of his recentish movie choices:

Swingers
Old School
Dodgeball
Wedding Crashers
Anchorman
The Break Up
Mr. and Mrs. Smith

If you look at each of these, he plays the same exact person in all of these. A stuck up, you're too retarded to talk to me, kind of guy. Like I've said before, he could walk from one movie to the next, and do the exact same thing, because that's all he does. He NEVER changes it up, and never does anything original with the characters. It's always the same exact thing, yeah, sometimes it's funny, but it's never different.

With Will Ferell, he's atleast playing different characters. He's a comedian, like someone else said, so he's going to do movies where he's silly and make fun of himself. But if I look at Anchorman, and then Elf or Kicking and Screaming, I saw two different personalities, but still both being hilarious.

Vince doesn't do that, and I don't like him at all. He's overrated, and pretty ugly for that, haha.

edit: If you watch Will's video for SNL or whatever, I think it showed his interview for the show. The guy can act.
