IMO, rigorous enforcement of their policies is the only way people won't think they can use the tools willynilly. Also, hopefully, it's the RMT that use the tools and SE can make bank as the RMTs buy more accounts![]()
The players - "OMG DO SOMETHING BOUT TEH HAXXORS"
SE - "Okey" *banbanbanbanbanban*
The players - "OMG WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
Can't win for losing. Is it just me or are the only people bitching about the bans are the third party users, friends of them or people too scared to hack?
Well, a cursory glance reveals a few of the local RMT not online, but that might not mean much, we'll have to see. I know they've been using assault orders+POS to get around Aht Uhrgan since the Candescence has been gone for a good week now though.
I gotta wonder how much it hurts their bottom line to ban this number of accounts every month... does FFXI even get 1500+ new accounts a month? I guess they do if you count those RMT levelling squads you see on almost every server....
10 bucks they forgot to include the 3rd party tool using RMT category in this wipe again. And if they did, he'll be online in 3 days again, loltempban.
it doesnt hurt them that bad. RMT just buy other accounts, or they purchase a new copy of the game to play again, so really in essence, they lose accounts, but probably gain them back.Originally Posted by Karinastar
*edit* the equipment/gil/items are lost though, however.
I didn't bitch, I just wrote it's getting old (like in: again four-digit-number of accounts banned). Old things not necsessarily have to be bad (like: Ridill).Originally Posted by Sixtail
When SE puts another one of these announcements, we should just bump the last topic about this and then we will have said everything there is to say and then move on.
Well, RMT are generally in the small minority of accounts banned each month, but they do seem to replace lost accounts with a much greater number of new accounts. The majority are normal players who have used pos/fleetool/ffxiapp/whatever to move around. A lot of those players who get perma-banned don't want to buy a new copy of the game and start over after having lost everything.
Note that I'm not condoning using hacks in any way, just making an observation.
You know this how?Originally Posted by Karinastar
Not too hard to tell if you keep tabs on the more notorious RMT on your server and also have a good number of friends. Of course I can't speak firsthand for all servers but on mine each banning I hear of a sizable number of legit players getting banned, yet I see the same RMT in the same places.Originally Posted by Xaru
It is fully possible that the RMT that are getting banned are the low key ones like Phantom Worm campers and such though....
In any event, I don't think I've yet to hear of anyone who got banned who hadn't posed around at some point or another whether they admit it or not, so they had it coming anyway. I just hope the RMT who were warp-claiming Ulli got nailed this round (I don't see a few of their crew who's names I remember so that's a good sign). ><
I'm sure they did something wrong to get banned.Originally Posted by Karinastar
I'm really glad SE are still doing something about these botting accounts and if it catches some gilsellers at the same time, even better. Makes it almost seem like it's not just some scare tactic against fleetool users.
Slightly surprised it's today and not at the end of the month though.
Ban RMT > RMT make new account > Level the shit out of it > Farm stuff make some gil > Ban RMT
Just a big vicious circle, SE probably just bans them so they can get some money when they buy the new IDs.
The recently implimentated an updated payment/registration system, maybe they actually did something to help identify the accounts at creation and prevent rmt from registering content ids. But who knows, prolly not. To OP, this has been said over and over, cheaters getting banned = good thing. Stop complaining when it happens.
Seems like more POS hacking bans and not botting bans. Even if some RMT do get banned and just level new characters, you can alwasy have fun MPKing them. There's an NM Tonberry thats at least lv. 60 always up in Yhoatar. Zone it a few times and watch the bodies pile up.
Wished SE wouldn't delete banned players gil, but instead divide it up amoungst the server. Deflation is sucking ass now and too much gil is leaving the system.
Actually, as far as I can tell, most of the people bitching about them are the people that wonder why they make this announcement every month and nobody seems to be able to name anyone who actually got banned.Originally Posted by Sixtail
Much less the RMT.
This never gets old. I wanna see when IGE stops buying gil from people to sell because their losing money due to the bannings. The hackers getting banned is just a side effect.
I'm guessing that's because 1500 or 3000 or whatever the number of players is, is actually a very small amount of the total population across all servers. I'm not complaining about that - every little helps. But if there are 28 (i think?) active servers that is just over 100 people per sever, based on them banning 3000 people. It might sound like a lot, but it's really a drop in the water. Why they don't get some people who have openedly admitting to botting or are the most obvious fleetool users... that, I don't know.Originally Posted by Kurohyou
my best friend got banned and he *promised* he doesn't cheat he only uses windower and i know this for a fact because i've seen him play in real life and he wasn't using hacks i hate how se is banning all the legit players like my friend and all the rmt are still running around
