    Level 50 Latent Rings

    Minstrels, Sorcerer's etc

I can get my taru blm hp to 616/831 74% with af2 hands and I have heard latent can be in effect as long as your hp is 75% hp or lower of your base hp (naked). Can I get the latent effect if I swap to my zenith mitts and have 616/781 78%?

My base hp is 842 at 75blm/rdm.

    Other question involves Minstrel's ring.

I lose out on my club/shield that I use for blm latent macro, and I'm wondering if I can get the ring latent to work if i have yellow hp but it is not 75% of my base hp.

Example: base hp on 75brd is 978 with /rdm, so 733 would be 75% which I can't reach. Can I put in stupid gear choices like genbu kabuto, seiryu kote to hit 791/1058 74% and have latent work?

Hope someone understands what I'm asking, because I sure don't.

Not sure on your first question, but on your second question: yes. The thing I've noticed though is that the Sorc and Minst rings work differently. To have the effect work on the Sorc ring, it NEEDs to be on at the time the spell goes off. So, that means you need to have your correct hp gear on when the spell goes off.

This isn't true for bard. The spellcasting -% goes into effect at the begining of the song. So for bard it turns out best if you have the gear you want to cast with on first (your chr or skill or -enmity or whatever gear). Then switch to as much HP gear as you need (even if its completely a waste of a slot otherwise), such that you get yellow hp. Then start casting the song. Then switch back to the original gear you had on. That way you get the effect of the -spellcasting while also getting the bonuses that occur when the spell goes off (-enm/skill/chr). (edit: in short, for bard ring, much better to switch from normal to +hp gear and back than to switch from normal to -hp gear back to normal) I wish this was true for BLM ring =(

There was another thread about these rings somewhere before about trying to reach the target HP and what qualified. If I recall correctly it depends on the item, i.e each one is different even in this case where both are rings. Some need to be the target HP regardless of whether or not you really are in yellow for example. Others you need to really be in yellow. Some count items that grant or take away HP differently depending on which armor slot and in some cases in a certain order.

For argument's sake let's say Zenith Gear counts to reduce your HP down to what would be 75% of your base HP. You aren't in yellow but you would be if the conversion factor wasn't in effect, so it counts. Genbu's Kabuto ups your base HP, making the value for 75% higher. Something like a Penitent's Rope doesn't work because it doesn't isn't a main piece of armor (causes a toon flash). But then again each item is different and the pieces of armor that effect it are different. Some will only work with naked base HP, all armor, converting factors and/or food. Only way to know for sure is to test or look for info from someone that has already tested.

Long story short: What's counts as 75% HP depends on the ring.

all Spellcast time items all activate at cast, MAB items all activate when the spell goes off. It's a pretty simple concept.
