I know whenever I call I am as polite as possible. I think in the end that's how you go about getting better service. A tech will be more likely to help you out if you're nice and gracious.

I expect that when people call them up it's not to tell them they've done a great job and need a pat on the back. I'd be surprised if they can go 2 hours without a customer like that.

Where we work tech support spills over to everyone..

Even the owner takes a few calls.

I find it easy to be nice to customers, especially when I only have to take maybe 2 calls a day at the most It is usually a nice break to get to do some problem solving which is always fun.

The customers are happy because getting directly through to people who actually make their stuff work and know what is going on is better than some cheap attendant who reads from a book and can't help them anyway.

Customers also call less when you actually fix their problem. The same engineers who built the system having to take support calls for those systems usually build better systems because they have to deal with the problems those systems cause

I refuse to do sales though.. I don't mind answering technical questions for prospective clients but I refuse to take part in the pricing and that side of i though.

They're probably nice to you because they can understand you. I try to be nice to those Indian-ish people that answer the phone, but after a while I just ask to speak to someone with better English. Not to be rude, but me trying to be nice to someone that I honestly can't understand isn't worth the cell minutes.

I work, then when patch is done I'm still at work. Afterwards I go to another place to work again. And go home, log on for 2 hours, check new content and go to sleep and look forward to playing the game sometime next week when I'll have time to play.
