    Time Management

How does everyone manage their time with MMO and RL stuff?

im a student in college with a part time job and i play WoW and FFXI.

most of the time after i get home from work or school i just log onto WoW or FFXI. school work is alway the last on my priority lol i don't do them til the last minute. back when i had a gf she is the one who makes me do my school work mainly cuz we were taking the same classes.

    school > work > MMO > repeat

I do my homework at work and cram studying in the parking lot before school.

    FFXI and Sleep accordingly.

I wait until the last possible second to do homework or study for a test.

UNLESS we are camping HNMs and I will just study inbetween ints.

I am a little bit more responsible with my time, when this game first came out I never studied or anything.

Also I usually make time to go out and drink but lately I just drink and play, makes the game a whole lot better.

I think many college students wait until the very last minute to do ANYTHING, whether or not they have work or play an MMO (which often times can seem like work). I know I do it. I know every TA I have does it, and knows we do it.

It's really annoying though, because like I'll say, "OK I'm NOT going to wait until the last minute to do this!!" and I always do. Trying to time manage when there are just so many other things to do can be really tough.

I think that as long as you can get it done if you leave it to the last minute then you're ok. The worse part is getting sleep in. If you work, play and have homework, sometimes you forget to sleep!

Yep, I get about 4-6 hours of sleep and then maybe take a nap in the day if I need it. The lack of sleep is one of the worse parts about college.

QFT, had to finish editting a sort documentary-type thing this week. Be in editting studio till 10PM, go home and mess around 4-5 hours (FFXI/surf/chat/etc), go to sleep at 3AM, get up at 7 and straight back to the studio woo~. Q_Q
Repeat that every day of the week before a project deadline, eating junkfood all the time, and drinking red bull for breakfast.. Being a student is disgusting.

you did not include anything about hanging with friends or going outside...

sir just quit. it makes life alot more fun when youre not doing repetitious tasks on a video game. playing once in a while can be fun, but making a habbit outta the game ruins the fun. endgame too, its taken to seriously. i had alot more fun on the game when i played an hour a day max and then chilled with my brohams.

Whatever happened to all that multi-tasking of looking up hentai while AT work? D:

Rl fails, unless I was living/working at some nice strip club or something.. then it might actually be worth it to be more social or doing... something else... heh heh heh (゜Д゜)

Work has always been top priority for me. You have to make money to pay the bills to play MMO games. Plus it's really experience that gets you jobs.

I personally put certifications as 2nd. Like for example now I'm going through a CMA course to write the entrance exam to become a Certified Management Accountant. When you actually compare certifications with college degrees I really think more employers value and give "oooo and ahhhh" 's to being certified than have a Bachelor’s degree.

College was always last or next to last on my priority list. When you look at it it's pretty useless, but necessary in most ppl's minds. Look at how many colleges are in your area, then look at how many students are studying in the same field as you. What's going to set you apart? Having 2-3 letters after your name and work experience.

So putting it all together my flow of things is:

    1.) Work
    2.) Getting Certified
3.) Games/College (whatever I'm in the mood for, if school was a pain in the ass that day fuck it it's time to relax but I'm out of school now)

damn gulk don't you get bore or tired of those stuff when u look at it like 24/7? what the hell do for your job that u can browse hentai and work at the same time?

    EDIT:
    to me its more like

    College (Degree)
    Outside activities
    MMO

but unfortunately my list ended up like this ever since college started

    MMO
    College
    Outside activities

with the addiction to MMO and friends leaving for college my priority list flipped lol

I don't study, I don't do homework, I show up for class only when I'm informed by my classmates that something important will go down.

I do however attend every test / turn in every project, for the most part I think learning the resourcefulness to cheat / lie effectively to my A's and B grades suits. Well, that is to say it suits me much more than classes I am taking as a requisite and have no actual application to anything that interests me in terms of future employment or academic enlightenment.

I live with my fiancee, she works 45 hours a week, I work like 20 and have practiced short-term investments fairly practically for the past 8 years. We also do Karate classes together 2-3x a week which is very fun :D

I used to play FFXI 10+ hours a day before we moved in together, now I play 2-3x a week for a total of 12 hours maybe, I enjoy my time with my fiancee and friends much more than making her feel cast out and secluded in our own apartment while I bury my head into my TV.

In short, personally I've never been one for formal education, I'm a high school drop out yet I have 2 years of a Biochem major under my belt before I got bored and switched to Buisness, I'm just a resourceful person. It's always served me better than my peers who dedicate the majority of every week to studying / class.

For cram studying, in the spring and fall I take my book to the beach, consume about 40Mg of Adderall, and make an outline which I then read over and over and over until class. Seriously has never failed me until I took Financial Accounting 2 (I got through cellular and molecular biology with this, and organic chem, but fucking accounting kicks my ass)

    Just hang in there.

Eventually you get tired of the anxiety and pressure of being behind and having to cram things in. Eventually taking care of responsibility promptly starts to feel good and you find that having everything done that needs to be done allows you to enjoy your free time on ffxi more, but not until you get sick and tired of being a nervous wreck all the time.

    All part of growing up.

    I couldn't...so I quit.

Seriously, I have a ridiculous amount of time to myself now...I cook, my room has never been cleaner, I hang out with old friends, I go to the gym. I really can't believe I spent as much time on the game as I did. I mean, don't get me wrong, I had alot of fun in the game and met some cool people, but if you're not playing the game they'll forget you. Life moves on.

My problem is when I do something I want to be the best. Simply put, if you want to be good at FFXI you need time to devote to it...and if you don't have that time you're not going to get very far. It's been 2 months this week that I quit. I've been tempted a few times to reinstall but couldn't bring myself to do it.

I still don't understand why we do this lol. Every one of my friends including me, mister A student, always wait for the last moment to do college work.
