Thought this was kind of a big deal, so i copied my post from the console wars thread. If this was already posted you can lock the thread.



The new xbox will soon be announced. HDMI output (HDMI CABLES INCLUDED), 120 gb hard drive, and all black. Retailing in america for $479.99 and is supposedly going to be limited in stock. It's called the Elite, lol. Rumored to be in stores Late April.

Considering sony tries selling hdmi cables for 100$, being included is pretty nice. Can probably get around 200$ for my current 360, so the small investment is really no big deal compared to the nice upgrade it'll be. Kinda funny that i'd buy 2 360's before a ps3 though, if only winter and 2008 were closer.

Well MS is forcing you to uprgade (if you want TRUE HD).

Lets see 360 Core is $299.99. (Useless w/o HDD)
360 Premium is $399.99. (20GB = not enough)
360 Elite is $479.99. (Limited Edition my ass)

Most 360 fanboys, will upgrade to the new 1. Some will stick with the 360 premium, but will buy the 120GB (could retail $99.99 [guessing]).
Only Core people get a benefit out of this (they save some $$).

Most MS people will chime in, that it was meant to be, or who the f cares?, but this is going to be funny to see when people were dissing the PS3 for its price, and now MS turns around and does this.


So new 360 (479.99) + X-Box Live (69.99) = $550.00 (+tax), getting close to saying "hi2u PS3"

PS3 doesnt even come with "TRUE OMG HD" out of the box. You still have to pay $70 for the damn HDMI cables, so your point is still moot. Add in the fact that you're not screwed into buying the Elite if you dont feel like having 1080p output, whereas with PS3 you're buying one regardless.

And what the hell do you have on your PS3 that takes up more than 20 gigs?

Oh yeah and Xbox live is $50 for a year, not 70. And it comes with 2 free months. Get your facts straight before you talk shit lol.

* The Elite will be limited quantities only; that may be as much or as little as a couple hundred thousand.

* The case, controller, and Live headset will all be black. It will have all new packaging.

* Elite will cost $479, and will be a 3rd SKU; it will be sold alongside Premium and Core packs.

* Eventually Elite hardware (in white plastics) will take the role of the Xbox Premium. That is to say, after the Elite is launched and sold out, future Xbox Premiums will have 120GB / HDMI.

* We do not yet know exactly when 120GB / HDMI will become the standard for Premium, but it is loosely estimated to be late summer or fall.

* Elite models run cooler than normal 360s, but they are not yet confirmed to have 65nm chips.

* Prices may remain the same with the 120GB / HDMI hardware upgrade in the Premium Xbox, but we may still see a price cut on the line when 65nm chips start shipping.

* The HD DVD drive will not be internal or bundled -- Microsoft never did or nor does not currently have plans to put an HD DVD drive in the 360.

* There are no current plans to integrate WiFi into the Elite or future Premiums (although that can always change).

So generally, the Elite's right now are just for dick waving like the $130 Halo 3 bundle is. $400 premium systems will eventually include everything the Elite has.

Newegg has them as low as $14.99.

If you want brand name cables yes you will pay more.

Would be funny, next year MS comes out with Ultimate Limited Edition 360 with the HD-DVD drive built in, and then the Super Ultra Limited Edition with a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray (dual drive) after that.

If you can get by on 20GB on the 360 good shit.

On my PS3 I got shit ton of stuff.

I have family pictures (2GB), mp3's (4GB), around 15-20 Movies [torrented/converted into MPEG-4] (most are HD so they are 1.5-3+GB each), demos downloaded from the PS store (10GB)

I also have an external 40GB HDD (the PS2 HDD converted), which has porn, and other stuff

I torrent movies onto my PC, then convert them using Red Kawa PS3 Video 9, and then transfer them onto my PS3 to watch.
(Movies stay on my PS3 up to a month for replayability, then I add new ones, delete the old)

I use almost all the features the PS3 gives.
(Stuffs looks good on a 61" HDTV)

Browser is fun too, watch youtube, peekvid, allsp (southpark) on my big HDTV

Folding@home is a good resource to help scientists out. When I have to recharge my controller and don't feel like playing, I let it go into Folding@home. (cool backdrop while you do chores/etc.)


I didn't see it anywhere that Sony is forcing there customers to buy there HDMI cables, or the HDMI wont work.
