    Elemental Skill v. MAB

    Let the flaming begin!!

    No, but seriously, when is it better to use Ele Skill over MAB?
    Or is it all MAB, all the time?
    I know a lot of BLMs that are ridiculously rabid about their MAB set ups and think it's the end-all, be-all of BLM but if that was trew (yes, I said trew) why would BLMs get Ele skill armour & Merit options?

    Wyrms, Khimaira, Cerberus, Kirin, all out elemental magic setup.

    Kings, mainly MAB but obviously using common sense to ensure you're not getting resisted.

    It's pretty situational, day, weather, blah blah.

    Want me to make a list of every hnm? It really depends. If you have max merits and all the blm gear then you have alot of flexability.

    Aspid/KB are easy and you can just nuke in full dmg. For stuff like faf I wear some ele gear (af2 hat/merc cape/sometimes druids slops), nid is a little higher so I might use af1 also. For those 2 sometimes you have an easy one that wont resist and some are higher and resist alot. I never understood these two. The cop wyrms fall in that area too, mostly af2 hat/cape and sometimes gloves. If resists get bad theres always earring/nashira feet that pretty much mean you wont get resist on alot of stuff, lol. Stuff like Bahamut v2 requires full ele if it doesnt have theren or anything special.

    I like to err on the side of caution. I like extra MAB but if you get resisted the most important thing is landing nukes w/o resists. Once you have a low resist rate just add on the extra dmg, having full dmg gear and getting resisted all the time is completely retarded. But there is no real right answer I always fucking screw around with gear at the start of the fight.

    Treat it pretty much like melee gear. Ele magic skill = acc gear, int = str, m.att bonus = att gear.

    It's not identical, but if you work on the theory of having enough acc that you're near the cap, then you start adding on +dmg gear.
