    COR/DRK

straight to the point : would it work in endgame such Xarcabard, Jailers, etc?
    *not speaking of meripo, lol*

if Atk Bonus traits work on RAtk the whole thing would look sweet on paper :
COR lacks on the RAtk department (while it can easily hit almost anything with proper gear + sushi) and, in addiction, it could toss Stuns gaining benefit from the 2mins refreshes. It could keep being geared toward ranged DD, maybe with just a slot or two dedicated to mp. After all, NIN/DRK works nicely.

    Re: COR/DRK

NIN/DRK is more about holding hate, don't get me wrong, the stuns are nice. But stun is not the number one reason Ninjas use it as a subjob. If you really want to boost your ratk, sub warrior. Berserk will do a lot more than an extra attack bonus trait from /DRK. (also should be noted that a lot of the jailers and ix'aerns resist stun)

    Re: COR/DRK

I wish COR could use Spartan Bullets.

    But ya:
    /WAR = +10 Attack; +25% Attack 60% of the time
    /DRK = +22 Attack; +15% Attack 10% of the time

Any situation where a COR is responsible for Stun would be suboptimal considering your MP pool would be like 50. If you're short on Stuns, it makes more sense to ask a random melee job to /DRK since they aren't locked into 600 Delay shooting animations half the time.

    Re: COR/DRK

my feeling on COR/DRK was to have attack bonus AND stuns; /WAR sure helps damages but doesnt offer much else than the usual /RNG (who has Barrage too).
the possibility of timing (or just spamming) Stuns comes from the facts corsairs often have refresh on for like 2 mins due to roll rotations, plus they still fall in the support category and stunning would definitely help the flow of combat...

I'd try that out but my lolDRK is 8 so...

Does souleater work on ranged attacks? Probably not, but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere.

if it did, that would make for some interesting barrages. on rng/drk ofc.

    Re: COR/DRK

I have mixed feelings about how Corsair is categorized as "support". They have enhancing abilities and stand in the back row, but that doesn't make them good at general mage-type support in the way a BLM, BRD, SMN, etc. can by subbing WHM. No base MP, so-so MP gear, loses TP by resting or equipping Light Staff, etc.

I can't really picture the NM that you'd be shooting normally (enough to care about R.Atk boosts) and be responsible for stunning (enough to risk 600 Delay shots). NMs are generally evasive, /RNG seems like a requirement if you want to DD normally with a B-rated weapon.

If you want to support your team while retaining some damage, I think /RDM or /BLU would be better. +28 Magic Attack (JT + Uggy) will probably outclass /DRK Attack Bonus on that type of monster. Again, I'm not a huge fan of gutting your core abilities for a couple shots of Cure III, but it's about as helpful as random Stuns.

    Re: COR/DRK

COR reminds me a lot of PUP in the support department. I actually would enjoy a situation where I'd be on support and Muffin would DD, but there's just a lack of versatility in the subjob department.

As a matter of principle, cor should not sub /blu. If I ever saw a cor subbing /blu, I would call them a dirty traitor.

    Re: COR/DRK

I've thought about /drk with massive haste gear for stun spammage it's ok if theres a set order for stun and the mob is stun locked (Something similar to how people stun byakko). Most of time I /brd since i'm put in 4x or 5x blm pt so i can give more mp refresh.

    Re: COR/DRK

There's no reason for COR to sub /DRK if other melee jobs aren't subbing it too. /WAR will do more to boost our ranged attack, and /RNG is the best for accuracy (which we need a ton of to have any chance of hitting most HNM's anyway). If stuns are that important, you might as well have your WAR's, MNK's, and RNG's subbing /DRK too, since they'll get the same benefit from it that COR does.

I'd go COR/DRK to Cerberus, or if we were going Despot or Steam Cleaner camping without any other stunners, but I'd also go WHM/DRK in those situations too.

    Re: COR/DRK

Every time I've been to jailers/Xarc etc on COR I've gone /WHM. It's simply too handy. There are people there whose only job is doing damage; why not lend them more support? Save attack subjobs for city and CoP Dynamis and things of that nature.

I still think RNG is the best attack SJ for COR, all things considered.

    Re: COR/DRK

For HNM situations, /BRD or /WHM are probably the most useful subs. Unless you plan your alliance around it, it's difficult to make COR a good DD. You'd probably want to fit in a DRK and a RNG into the COR's party so he could do Hunters and Chaos rolls, and make up for the lacking Marksmanship skill (and buff the other DDs). The typical best rolls for exp parties, Rogues & Fighters, do very little for a DD COR in a HNM situation.

So what usually is true is that COR is better as pure support and doing damage via card shots. And for a while now, they changed it so that you can do two rolls and one song buffs if you're COR/BRD. So for mages COR really shines for support. You can do Evokers + Healers + Ballad for a lot of MP regen. Or Wizards + Warlocks + Ballad (Or Learned Etudes haha) for a BLM party. And for a melee party, you can use /BRD for an extra gimped March or Minuet, or just stick to /WHM and help with cures.

    Re: COR/DRK

I find that /BRD would work in very finite situations: for example, when your party is MP-heavy and are entirely self-sufficient (don't need you to help cure) as well as doesn't require you to have any damage mitigation (Stoneskin). In the Ouryu Cometh fight (for example) your party will most likely be MP-heavy but will take AoE damage: thus, /WHM is better since it allows you to Curaga II.

/BRD would work in something like a manaburn with RDM BLM x4, or in a place where you'd need that extra Refresh but could also use DD gear and shoot things in the downtime.

As Norg has shown us, many pirates are Ninjas.

Aside from a comparison between zenith and crimson gear, a great majority of MP gear is all jobs (or atleast COR and BRD can use both). I wish COR had a refresh piece but aside from that I would much prefer Crimson over Zenith for MP requirements on BRD as well as COR. Less MP but significantly more HP, which in quite a few circumstances is a good trade. And of course, /WHM is /WHM no matter where it comes from, assuming no natural MP. In fact COR makes a better /WHM user than BRD, because BRD spends 8 seconds singing every song while COR buff abilities are all instant, and COR buffs are not affected by gear in any way while BRDs need gear to land songs or give full strength buffs.
