WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT
Did they edit out the last 10 seconds before airing the episode and then forget to edit it back in?
I hope it's not one of those "believe what you want to believe" endings because those are bullshit. goddamnit.

Man, i just swore my head off at the TV. Those people are the worst fucking writers in television. I really don't know what the fuck they were thinking with that ending.
At least Phil got his, though.
It seems that it was intentionally left ambiguous so the viewer can assume what they want to assume. It also leaves the door open for a Sopranos movie if they ever decide to make one.
David Chase said the ending wasn't going to be perfectly wrapped up in a neat bow, I guess he meant it would be anti-climactic. Maybe you assume Tony gets whacked by the guy that went into the bathroom, or maybe you don't.
Thank god I'm not the only one thinking wtf at that ending. I thought my Tivo cut the last few seconds off.
That's Tony's life--we're not the only ones wondering if that guy sitting at the end of the counter is going to kill Tony or not, and just like we're on the edge of our seats wondering it every time the door opens, so is Tony.
At least, that's what I got out of it. And yeah, glad Phil got what was coming to him.
ppl on the IMDB board are speculating that the last shot of Meadow walking through the door to the restaurant is Tony's POV, and it cuts out because he's just been shot by the guy who went into the bathroom.
fuck.
My entire family left the living room in a furious rage, then we went to white castle's. So, it was a happy ending.
Now I remember why I never watched this for the past 7 years.
That is the ending that makes the most sense.ppl on the IMDB board are speculating that the last shot of Meadow walking through the door to the restaurant is Tony's POV, and it cuts out because he's just been shot by the guy who went into the bathroom.
I swear it showed her sitting down though, watching it again when it comes on the Pacific HBO channel to see that part again.
I remember thinking she's going to get shot because the whole she can't park, the guy goes into the bathroom seeing Tony in the open, then she comes in and sits down and it goes dark.
So that POV thing won't make sense if it's confirmed she does sit down, which I swear she did.
I DVR'd this...she never comes through the door on my screen. You see Tony/Carmella/AJ eating at the table, she runs across the street, then as the music says "don't stop", you hear the door chimes, and tony looks up. Then it goes black.Originally Posted by MF Perm

Man, you guys must not know David Chase very well if you think you're going to get a straight forward ending.
The last scene was brilliant. It was nothing more than David Chase fucking with us by having person after person possibly being the one that would kill Tony. My heart was racing. Every goddamn scene that Tony was in, I expected someone to pop out of the shadows and cap Tony. My only regret is he didn't get to fire off that massive fucking gun.
And how funny was that shit with the cat and Paulie?
Also funny was how AJ is such a hypocritical little shit. They got him a job in the movie business and bought him a new BMW and all of a sudden life is roses for him again. The kid will eternally be a fuck-up.
That cocksucker prick Phil got his, so it's over. No more war. Life will go on as usual. Tony will probably rot in jail.
Yes, the cut-off at the end was a little bit of a wtf moment.
I thought my DVR fucked up on me in the last few seconds of that finale
I was cursing and screaming like WTF!? WTH!? OMFG not the last few seconds FUCKKKKK!!!!!!!
Then I was like maybe that how the ending was supposed to be, so I rushed my ass to BG to see if anyone else got, what I got, and phew am I relieved
They never show Meadow sit down, all I see here is park, run to the eatery, camera pans on her face, looks like shes crying or something then Tony looks up for maybe half a sec and bam darkness
The ending was so Vague, but vague enough that people will talk about it for awhile:
Tony gets shot, and we fade to black due to his POV
Tony always has to becareful, even with his family, and always knows he is a target all the time (always be on guard no matter what)
David Chase just didnt want to finish and maybe leave something for the future (You never fucking know, remember X-Files..then Movie)
David Chase just said FUCK IT!, I will make an ending so vague and so open minded that I will leave people to decide which fate is circumventaed onto Tony Soprano
Fully agreed that it's still an appropriate ending, but the pause in black was suspiciously long. If MF Perm really saw as much as he did after the door chimes sound, i'm wondering just whether or not the cut to black was intentional.Originally Posted by Norelco
Nah, I was probably racing in my mind that his daughter was going to get shot. I swear I saw her sit but if people are watching it again on the DVR and saying she didn't I believe it.
One point that was brought up though was the expression on her face. Does she look shocked or like she's crying? That may be the key, she could be walking in as the guy walks out with gun drawn.
Either way speculation aside, this is going to be a much publicized ending just because of the blackout and they know it. That was really the best way to end the series, hands down. Only because it saves them the hard decision of deciding if he lives or dies, and leaving it in the hands of the viewers.
They don't show her face at all, I'm not sure what you mean. I just watched the ending again.
They show her running to the door, DING, Tony looks up, black for 5 seconds.. credits.
Unless my DVR cut off the very last second where they show her after the ding and Tony looking?
If not yea, it goes black with Tony looking up, no look from Meadow.
This ending fucking sucked. Although in retrospect, it was perfectly on par with the writing of this season. The entire season has been shit, IMO. Way to end up making me hate a series that I really liked HBO.
Great finale. Paulie with the broom and the cat, classic. The Junior scenes almost brought a tear to my eyes. The cut to black at the end, probably the best way to close out the show.
Yeah I just watched it again, the bell rings, he looks up, cut to black.
One thing I noticed the second time around was the blackout seemed much shorter. The first time it seemed like 5 minutes, this time it was 30 seconds then credits.
Funny how it seemed so long the first time around lol.
As a side note, did anyone like John From Cincinnati? I think it has potential.
I really liked the final scene.
It just had this sense of impending doom throughout the whole scene.
I expected a car to smash into Meddow's car, as i'm sure they intended for us to expect. It didn't happen.
The guy at the bar, I was expecting to pull out a gun. It didn't happen.
the way the camera was shot made it seem like everyone in his family was in danger in that scene, and then it ended with nothing happening to anyone. I thought it was really neat, but maybe i'm just weird.
The rest of the episode was a disappointment, other than Phil's death. I had a huge fucking grin on my face when he died.
I'm pretty pissed they made a deal with that little fucker who was Phil's right hand man. They knew where Phil was, they shoulda taken him and a bunch of the top guys out in retaliation at least. Woulda been nice to see Tony unloading that big gun Bobby got him.
Ending sucked. The core target audience of the Sopranos didn't want some mind-fuck after of years of watching. I'd write a letter to HBO and bitch at them if I weren't so lazy.
