Parry Skillups

Hiya,

im a LV75 PLD (Main Job, no other at 75) and have big problems to level my parry skill ;; My Shield is capped, same as of course with Evasion, but my Parry falls behind drastically. Its only 156 atm.

What can i do besides use Gear with + Parry, because that doesnt seem to work. I bought a Verdun and Parrying Earring, not much i know, but this has no use for me at all.

What mobs or what else can i do to get my Skill up? Its on 156 since 9 months now, without to go up a sinlge level; ;
Should i put on a greataxe or something (for skillpus now) ? I say that because i think that i will always shield-block first, with capped Shield and very gimped Parry, so its no wonder imo. So may that help or what you suggest else?

Skilling up parry...

Firstly, consider levelling up a job with A rated parry. It's a hard one to get points in, and Pld doesn't have the highest ranking in it at all.

When I skill up parry on Thf, I tend to find a mob like Aquarius (hits rediculously quick with crappy accuracy), load up on as much +agi gear/parry gear as I can, and just fight it with a friend or two in support. Usually by the end of the fight I'll have gained one to two levels in parry... but, as I'm a lazy Thf, I don't do this continuously to get near capped parrying. It's a bit like a skill up party, except you use an NM to do it.

If you want to raise parry quicker, level Ninja to be fair and try and fight as many VT's as you can.. it's about as optimum as you'll get for levelling it, but it's still a long road.

Leveling NIN to 75 wearing a Hauby most of the time my Parrying only ended up being ~120. You'll pretty much need to spend hours with Chigoes wailing on you and a RDM or WHM spamming cures on you if you want to get near the cap in a reasonable amount of time.

After PLD I lvled WAR to 75. That took me up to about 200+ skill. I also got quite a few skill ups from using WAR in merit parties. 220 to 225 took a while though. Just tank everything you can, I ended up capping it on Aura Statues.

pld/rdm with phalanx/stoneskin and def food / earth staff and grab 2-3 mouriches and then korrigans or pucks to cap it off (any -damage gear or -eva gear would help since you want to parry and not evade or shield block). Spirit taker to help regain mp and wear any mp regen stuff you can.

I did rdm/war (for defender) for shield skilling on mouriches 2 weren't a problem, 3 would kinda tear through stoneskin a bit too fast for comfort.

Are Pucks in the Den the mob of choice to go from 210+ to the cap of 225? Skilling in the tree got me to 210 parrying no problem, but it seems that the skillups have now come to a stop.

yep, den of rancor is where the puks you want are, korrigans should pop around level 75 too according to alla but they are 72-75 pucks are 74-77
