    ePSXe

Ok im new to usin emulaters. I downloaded xPSXe and im havin trouble using it.

1st question is, when I try and run cdrom(with ps1 game in cdrom) it says you have to go to video>config to configure first, when I bring this up, It gives no option to select, like you have to type something in it.

2nd I should just be able to put a ps1 game in my cdrom and play it using this? or do I have to download it off the inet somehow.

3rd is I cant maximize the emulater itself, will games always play n a small box and not be able to maximize?

Download a bios, download a plugin pack or all the plugins individually, configure the drive plugin to load the game from your optical drive.

    Re: ePSXe

You can google all of the dowloads. I'm using SCPH1001 bios, but there's a bunch that will work, I just don't remember all the numbers off the top of my head.

You can get all the plugins here. You need graphics, sound and CD plugins, none of the other stuff is required. ePSXe comes with default plugins for most of this bundled with the download, but usually you'll find other people's plugins work better. Downoad all of the plugins in ePSXe's plugin folder and the bios in the bios folder. Open ePSXe, click on Config > Wizard Guide and follow the instructions.

Make sure you configure all the plugins before clicking "OK" on them to make sure you have the right settings on everything (i.e. the graphics plugin has whatever screen resolution you plan on using, the CD rom plugin is reading from the right drive, etc). Some games need special options to be on to emulate properly, so make sure those are on too, under the "special game fixes" option (the plugin's config screen should tell you what games need what - if your game isn't there, it probably doesn't need anything special). Make sure the controls are mapped properly to your keyboard (which is also a part of the guide I think), put your PSX CD in whatever drive you told your plugin to read from, then File > Run CDROM. If you ever want to read from an image file stored on your computer's hard drive, use File > Run ISO instead.

If it runs but there's bugs/glitches that get in the way of playing the game, mess around with the plugin settings a bit and see if it fixes anything. If it doesn't run at all, double check how you configured the plugins, you probably missed something important, like what drive your CD's in. If it's still not working, try using different plugins

    Re: ePSXe

Ok getting a blank screen after Run CdROM still, while trying to start up ff origins. I downloaded that folder of bio's Snowknight26, so thank you, I tried a few of those but no luck yet. Ok under Config Wizard Guide, this is what im using now, Bio: scph1001 , Video: P.E. OpS. Soft DRiver 1.17 (configured and hit ok on this and it seems to work fine) , Sound: P.E. OpS. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 (if I config this and hit ok it doesnt go to the next page, but I can still go to next) , Cdrom: ePSXe CDR WNT /W2k core 1.5.2 (when I configure this nothing comes up. maybe this is the flaw?)

Now after the blank screen and I hit escape to exit, sometimes it says "Could not release hWnd". Other than that idk how to describe the problem anymore, what should I be doing: download more Cdrom/or any plugins? Config something differently? When the game comes up will it just start automatically usually?

thanks for any help in advance

    Re: ePSXe

That looks like the default CD plugin , download a different one (P.E.Op.S. should work fine)

If it's working normally, after you hit RUN CDROM(or ISO) you'll get a black screen for a couple seconds, then it'll load by itself. If you're getting a black screen for several seconds and its not loading, your settings are probably messed up somewhere

Each game needs specific settings. Which are you trying to run?

For 2D games, a software plugin is usually better.

P.E.Op.S. GPU v1.17 is what you want.

Then you have to do it the hard way. [pec]chu, control + H while you are running the game. It allows you to search and modify memory. It's explainned in the help file.

    Re: ePSXe

I changed no settings and today it just dont work anymore.. Unless you can tell me exactly what emulater to use and pugins, im pretty much done with trying to figure it out. I only was trying to try and play my ps1 ff origins, it has a glitch in it and you cant get past a certain part, was hoping it would be fine on a emulater, but with all this trouble probably easier to go rebuy the game.

    Plugin: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.1.17
Author: Pete Bernert and the P.E.Op.S. team

    Resolution/Color:
    - 1280x960 Window mode
    Stretch mode: 2
    Dither mode: 0

    Framerate:
    - FPS limit: on
    - Frame skipping: off
    - FPS limit: 60.0

    Misc:
    - Scanlines: disabled
    - Game fixes: off [00000000]

You can change the resolution, stretching and dithering to what you like best.

For sound, use Eternal SPU with none of the special options checked. I just tried these settings and they worked fine with FFO.

    Re: ePSXe

What version of FF Origins are your trying to run?
US, JP or EU? You need a Bios corresponding to those. My EU games won't run under a US Bios, but work with the proper EU BIOS without a hitch.

And it is diffcult to tell you the exact plugins and settings, since your system is probably different from the one othe rpeople use, what works for them might not work for you. (for example, on my old system I could just run the games, on the new one I have to limit their speed.)
