I stress test my pc whenever i make even a minor change to it, but today i noticed something odd. After about 2 hours of prime95(4x threads) the temperature of my q6600 will jump from 55C to 100C. However Speedfan/Coretemp report all the temperatures of the individual cores as <55C, which is what the CPU was at under load before. Speedfan also says the system temperature jumps to 100C, so i'm thinking it could be the northbridge heatsink that is overheating. I have an EVGA 680i NF68 revision A1 board and i've read of some northbridge heaksink problems. Should i reseat the northbridge heatsink? Or is the problem something else?
