TOAU Avatar speculation

I know this had been mentioned before, I'm just trying to recap/summarize things concerning the ToAU avatar.

- We'd agree there will be one, shouldnt we? Ziliart relased Fenrir, Cop relased Diabolos.

- Plain speculations would include Odin or Alexander, since both already have a 3d working model and WS/BP set.
ODIN - since the introdution of the Dark Rider, many guessed it was Odin's turn to become a SMN pet, but still there are a few cons to it : first the odin+horse model is HUGE, while Odin alone (as seen with Luzaf during a TOAU CS) is kinda meh, looking like Ifrit in white armor.
he does have a "new" 2H BP (death AoE) but after reading about Odin's WSes in Valgrind, I didnt notice anything that would make him useful as an avatar besides being cool. Diabolos for ex retained his Nightmare ws.
finally, Odin is portrait as strong and powerful as Bahamut, and we all know the wyrmking was never meant to become SMNs toy.
ALEXANDER - at first I never thought about the light avatar, but after the ToAU BC a few things came up : first he stands still but his size is much more pet friendly; secondly he could actually mean something to SMN gameplay, adding a strong Holy 2H, Cure IV or V BPs and much more.
so while I'm not particularly interested in the "robotic gear" design, it could be that in the end SE will give us the iron giant instead of the dark rider.


- Last thing that bothers me is the release date.. Anyone remembers if both pets were released before the next expansion? I'm quite sure Diabolos was introduced maybe in Feb, 2 months before ToAU.
Since WotG is scheduled for November, I dont really know if there will be another ToAU content patch before that.... could it be that SE will skip any TOAU avatar and give smn something else right with the start of WotG?

SE did also say they were going to give all jobs an overhaul before (at the start of?) the new expansion. Perhaps they wanted to delay giving you an avatar until then because you’re not going to get anything else lol.

I doubt that Phoenix would be released for WotG, since she was scattered and incomplete after the events of the meltdown until she combined with Selh'teus.

lol, yea I saw him. Just kinda picked some obscure Avatars I could think of from past FFs.

I highly doubt Phoenix will be either but it's possible I think. We are going into the past and all which could be just before the whole Phoenix story as well, no? I forget exactly when it happened.

I am wondering when we will get into the story with the East side of Aht Urhgan, would love to see some more about Phoenix. That's probably another expansion or something though.I was just sorta thinking it would be pretty sweet and a nice buff if SMN got an Avatar with like Reraisga or maybe like a random chance it summons itself and casts raise on the SMN or their party. idk, it's a specualtion thread!

Just highly doubt Odin/Alexander will be, I'm expecting something random to collect and then never use on my Lv37SMN.

I'm thinking Alex. There's already a quest ingame to fight Odin, and the reward does not include a summon pact.

There is currently no quest ingame to fight the Alex-Prime model which you see in the CS where the SPOILERS Aphamu's Automatons get destroyed.

They didn't just add that model in for 1 CS. They left an opening for it at the end of the ToAU missions too with the SPOILERS open astral portal in Alex's body's remains.

I really dont think (or like) they just releasing WoTG saying "get this new neverseen before pet, with no background or story relevance, and have fun using it".
aside from the first 6, every other avatar was given to SMN after its story unveiled and I'd love them to keep thing this way.
more, every new pet is basically a 100% recycle of 3d material and Odin suits the case perfectly. why should they bother with a 100% new concept+3d work when they already have it done? I could guess WoTG will be Caitsith for ex, given to players once WoTG plot is over and used all over missions and quests.

As for Odin Pact not being in the game *now* as reward it's because the whole Odin quest thing will be introduced stand alone, just like Diabolos; i'm pretty sure the battle will take place in Valgrind, but with the usual "weaker version, 6 ppl BC" stuff to it. would be nice to meet some windurstian taru in Al Zabhi saying he learned about Odin etc etc

Alexander as he is seems pretty out of the question as well. There is an Astral Gate at the end that could give us something, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Both seem "special" as SE put it, more "special" than Bahamut even.

Although he's not in as bad of a state so it might not be as comparable, you're still able to summon Fenrir. Plus, the fact that she's scattered and the fact that she never talked to you directly (IIRC) it makes sense to add her, so there's not much awkwardness in regards to CoP and whatever you'd get her in.

Watch both Odin and Alexander be added, and Odin requires Mark of the Einherjar (perma key item obtained after clearing all 9 pre-Valgrind chambers) from each member, Alex requires Runic Key for the member initiating the fight, and both require Captain (all 50 normal assaults + ToAU finish, right?). (I'm only kidding.)

We can count out Odin for sure. A pact with Odin doesn't put the mortal in control; the mortal serves Odin. Also, Odin has been associated with vengeance and hatred while all the other avatars are (at the very worst) morally ambiguous. There's no sense in giving the heroes a distinctly evil power when we're supposed to be on the side of righteousness.

Alexander, the holy being, is not an iron colossus himself. The constructs in TAU (the Ruins of Alzadaal and the iron colossus in Nyzul) are the mediums through which Alexander interacts with the world, to deal out his judgment and spam ?. SE could implement a true-form Alexander, a knight in armor that resembles the colossus, using the astral gate inside the wrecked Nyzul structure as a "protocrystal." Besides, using a machine model would steal away from PUP.

I can't imagine why SE would stick a connection to the astral plane where they did unless it is:

a.) part of a new avatar quest
b). part of the TAU weapon upgrade

Furthermore, TAU greatly concerns Odin while Alexander is left to legend until the final bout. Ending Alexander's presence on this note makes me feel as though he's FF9's Necron: appearing just long enough to fight you at the end of the game without having any real significance otherwise. An avatar quest would develop Alexander's story further so it doesn't look like Odin steals the show.

I could see a sort of over-sized Courier Carrie as an avatar, a crab with divine spells. the mdef down and atk down BPs look doable. the single target terror and perfect defense are a bit much because of the duration. a big slow immoble crab that heals itself.

the portal in the ruins, could easily be expanded to a prime fight where they give back-story or whatever.

I doubt they do anything more with odin, he's already got einharhar.

Hmmm, I don't know, Alexander and Odin seem to a bit out there. It doesn't seem Alexander even has a body to summon.

Neither Odin nor Alexander look like they'll be summonable based on their current forms. They're both much too strong and neither's special attacks look like things that SE would give SMNs. (Well, without such a severe nerfing as to make it mostly useless in the case of Alexander.)

That's a little disappointing, because it only leaves random stuff from the sky chart like Chocobo, Bomb, etc. Of course SE can always add a third category of avatars such as whatever Atomos is supposed to be to celestial/terrestrial. "Chronological" or "dimensional" maybe? I dunno.

I don't really see either of them being a summon. If anything maybe Alexander being linked to a Relic Animator for Pup since irrc, it is an automaton. Even that's pushing it.

I'd assume it would be an automaton modeled by the Galka based on Alexander, but not the actual one due to what happened in the story.

Alexander isn't an automaton so much as every automaton is based off of him. >.>
