I was wondering if this was a good piece for a resist setup?

for a resist set up you want elemental resistance everywhere you can put it and put MDB and -%magicdmg taken in any of the other open slots.

so since this is a ring, where ele resistance is easily attainable, no, this isnt a good choice for a resist set. ok for a basic set to lower magic damage but even coral/merman's rings would be better for that unless you had a relic shield.

In resist setup, you (surprisingly) want to wear items with resist (who would have thought?).

And as the above poster said, it's easy to find good resist items in ring slots. Also, for a damage mitigation setup (like one you would use for Citadel Buster), you can get -4% Magic Damage Taken in that slot as well. Well technically, you can get -6% and -10% in ring slots.... but yeah, you know how that goes...

the bottom line is, while it's in the spirit of what you're looking for, the values are sub-mediocre, while other equip out there is cheap, available, and much more effective, completely eclipsing that ring.
