fileplanet must be getting fucking hammered... releasing cod4 demo and the ut3 beta so close together, i'm trying to get the cod4 demo and it's spiking between 100-250 at the most

I can't connect to any servers on UT3 so I just created my own server, graphics are pretty good yea if you turn them up

none of the edges are smooth no matter what i turn the settings to, at least i think i tried everything <_<

Had to use gamespot to download since FilePlanet's queue lines for the freebie servers were kind of long waiting.......30min left on the demo, looking forward to seeing if it can keep me away from TeamFortress2 longer than 2 minutes.

My only beef is that the UnrealEngine3 can't use AA in the DX9 path, so I had to boot to my rarely-used lolVista partition to muck with it much. Going back for more after Salvage, but from offline Instant Action, it's pretty gratifying, I'm pretty pleased overall.

I enjoyed the feel and gameplay of the original UT moreso than 2k3 or 2k4, and UT3 just feels a lot more like the original than either of its immediate predecessors. I haven't really done enough to make an educated decision, but aside from the DX9 path being very "meh" and the lack of widescreen resolution support (who has a 4:3 LCD these days, anyway?), I haven't found that much to openly complain about.

Hitbox for headshots feels hueg liek xbox, but I'm confident that will change by the final release, right now sniping isn't even a challenge, you sort of get the crosshair in their general vicinity and the die.

Meh more thoughts later.

Anyways, really surprised how well this is running on my badly-aging 256mb GF6800 GT, wasn't expecting to push a steady 12fps with everything cranked at 1024x768.....

Glad they kept all the wall/mid-air jumping madness from UT2K4, so much fun abusing them to get up to locations quicker than those who don't even know how to work them.


Btw, what is that mech thing called that's present in the rear of that screencap? Had some fun with it, pancake'd an AI, then hopped out after I got bored of its slow movement.

Best you can do is try downloading the torrent again, and save it to a different location and try again. I've had problems with installers before and re-downloading it seemed to work.... best of luck ;x

thats how i want it to look, it looks nothing like that, make all the edges pixally and the colors not very bright.
