Future guitar hero III tournament for BGers?

Inspired by the thread for the halo tournament.

I'm sure there are a good few of us on here that play, or will be playing. So let's start a little tournament for fun.

We can do expert for the hardcore players or do it on hard difficulty for the less hardcore players but include more people and make it more competitive.

I say that system is irrelevant, requirements are probably a digital camera to be able to take a picture of your final score/percentage and we'll do it over the course of one weekend or something. Each song will consist of different points, 5 for highest score, 3 for 2nd highest, 1 for 3rd highest nothing below that, and then tally up points for each song who can get the highest score/song and have the highest score at after each song through a solo career.

I would be interested, could do it throughout a few weekends or something, do like one set-list per weekend for people to work on songs and try to get the highest score possible. Doesn't matter how many times you try but whatever you submit at the deadline is the one that will be counted.

I think it could be fun, i know there are other guitarhero forums that do similar things, why not us!!

If anyones interested i'll try to draft some rules/guidlines at work this week and work something out for when it's released.

I don't like the feel of the new guitar. For some reason, it actually made my fingers kinda hurt. XD

You definitely need an Expert tier on the tourney though, since people like myself will just get a bunch of FCs if you pick Hard or less, and the tournament will just become a squeeze-fest, which is pretty boring imo.

well cool, it sounds like there's enough interest that it sounds like it'd be worth doing.

I'll draw up some rules while i'm at work over the next couple day's.

Anyone have any idea's about making it interesting for winners, or should it be for straight fun/bragging rights?

Ok this is what i've got so far.

In order to qualify for the tournament you have to be a BG user, and a registered BG user as of yesterday, october 23rd.

Your band name must be your BG name.

The schedule will be on a weekly basis and consist of either 1 to 3 setlists per week (we'll have to dicuss this as it'll play a role in the total length of this).

There will be a point system involved to declare who is the champion and be a 2 part system for the bulk of points and i'm thinking about possible bonus' for certain achievements:

First points will be based on total points. Highest would = 5 points, 2nd = 4, 3rd = 3, 4th = 2 and 5th highest 1 pt.

Second will be based on % completed: 95-99% = 5; 90-94% = 4; 85-89% = 3; 80-84% = 2; and 75-79% = 1. You will get 8 points awarded for completing a song at 100%

There will also be bonus points awarded for performing a full combo (you can still get 100% without getting a full combo due to overstrumming or something).

Points will be combined for a total score giving people multiple opportunities to gain points. Points will be assessed on a per/song basis giving you the chance for a total of 10 points per song (not including full combo, 100% or any other bonus') if you have the highest score and high % to a minimum of 1 point for basically completing the song.

I'm separating the points for highest point total and % because some people are better at different things and some things are worth more points than others. for example, on a chord heavy song it's easier to get high points even with a low % while on solo heavy songs points are lower even if you can get high %. Trying to level the playing field as much as possible. Of course if you're awesome at both you'll probably get a lot of points anyway.


Entry for the tournament will be a deadline of this sunday at midnight. You need to PM me with which difficulty you want to be a part of, once the tournament starts there will be no switching. There is expert, hard and medium available. Please don't do hard if you can 5* expert and likewise don't do medium if you can 5* hard or expert, this is somewhat on the honour system so play which one will be a challenge for you.


I'm thinking we can do 1-3 setlists per week, this will affect how long the tournament lasts (shorter is better I think but not everyone, like myself, has time to blow through the game in one day, plus this would give people time to learn the songs before submitting their final score). The submission deadline would be at midnight on sunday's to give me your scores for points, 12:00 would be accepted, 12:01 would not be and this will be in PST time, 3am EST.

Score's must be submitted via .jpeg format, take a picture and save it through paint or whatever. Anyone caught editing their scores will be immediately disqualified with no chance for parole (i'd like to request someone's help who's familiar with this kinda thing). You must take a picture of the score at the end of the songs (not positive of the GH3 format yet but whatever is like the newspaper from the other ones).

you can play the song as many times as you want during the course of the week, but only one score will be counted so make sure you submit the one you want to qualify. All submissions must be to myself either via PM or an email attachment(i'll post my email later), I don't want to clutter this with pictures since everyone will be talking. The monday night after i've tallied up the winners i'll make a single post with all the top winners and mark who is where (i'll keep all scores tallied but only weekly winners will be posted).
