Merits advice pwz

Hey was wondering if anyone could give some advice on merits, I've currently WAR SAM NIN at 75 and leveling PLD atm(currently 65). The problem I'm struggling with is the combat merits, i have a Ridill so 8/8 sword is a must, NIN i rarely use tbh, WAR mostly for xp, SAM for HNM and i want to use PLD some once it hits 75. Any advice on how to set the last 12?

Second, got Joyeuse I assume, so Rid/Joy for War covers merit whoring, 4/4 Shield and the Sword covers Pld, so the toss up becomes go 8/8 GKT for Sam (which is also good for meriting) or if Pld doesn't work out as well but you like Nin a lot, 8/8 Katana for Nin+4/4 Eva if you prefer that style of tanking/DDing.

6 Katana/6 GKT is an option, though Sam can really get by with less weapon skill due to the 2h job update.

Just scrap ninja, Sword/shield/Gkat and you're set. Most likely there's nothing you'd do on ninja that none of your other jobs couldn't cover.

If you're gonna do any amount of tanking/using your PLD, cap out Shield.

Beyond that, up to what you use the most, GKatana maybe?

if ridill i would personally do 8axe 8gkt 4swrd (since you probably got suppanomimi)

250 skill +16 sword merits +5 suppa +7 fortitude = 278 skill, which is a bit low for me to consider dual weilding swords in exp.

dont gimp your current jobs for 8 shield skill... if you're blood tanking or our of shadows you can macro in boxers + shield torque + af+1 feet + buckler's earring if you absolutely must. Shield/Parry/Eva merits are for PLD only ppl or LS Main tanks.

I'd go with 8 Sword 8 GKT and 4 Shield.

And if you really do thoroughly enjoy your NIN, 8 sword, 8 Katana, and 4 shield.

Honestly, 2-handed weapon combat merits are pale in comparison to 1-handed combat merits in terms of an overall benefit. I like to think the main use for combat merits is to drive one to more accuracy to use Att food as often as possible, and accuracy is hardly an issue with 2-handed weapons most of the time.

There's no question about the 8 sword and the 4 shield wit PLD and a Ridill, but between GKT and katana, it's up to you and your passion for those jobs.

Depends on how much you plan to use PLD for endgame. If you use it a lot then putting 4 in shield would be a good idea.

I think it would also be worth capping GKT, as you seem to use that the most for HNMs. Seeing as you have a Ridill then 8 sword merits would be a great idea too. So 8 GKT, 8 Sword and 4 Shield.

you can't do 8 for Defensive Skills, they cap at 4.

Thanks for the help guy's, seems nice 4 shield, 8 sword, 8 GKT. Atm tho don't have Fort Torque, think it would be best to put 4 in Axe? or just go straight with the 8 GKT?

if your just using war for ridill/joytoy most of the time; GKT would be more help so u can use meat on any mob more or less.
