    Weaponskill -accuracy question

    Forgive me if this has been answered somewhere else but I can't find it :/

    Looking at weaponskills like Sidewinder who have an innate -accuracy penalty;

    In a theoretical situation where your TP build has over 95% accuracy but is capped at 95%, you then WS using this same gear at 100% TP using a theoretical weaponskill which has a -30% accuracy penalty at 100%...

    Would the resultant accuracy be (95% - 30%) = 65%, or would it be (95% - 30%), then add accuracy which is normally redundant, being over the cap? To make it clearer, suppose in theory you would be at "110%" accuracy, but it is capped to 95%. Would your final accuracy be 65% or 80%? ((95% - 30%) + 15%)?

    Just wondering this because in certain situations like a TP burn, it would possibly be more advantageous for Rangers to load up on Ranged Accuracy gear and be able to weaponskill every time at 100% as opposed to having to wait for slightly higher TP for more consistent hits. I know little about Ranger and that's not the reason I'm making this topic specifically, so don't burn me down too much if my idea is completely unsuitable for Ranger this is mainly out of curiousity.

    I'd like to see a test on Slugwinder accuracy too...

    Too bad no RNG can solo this experiment alone, distance correction sucks.

    Re: Weaponskill -accuracy question

    I usually merit with obow and fire at 100%tp, never any problems really. I don't max on STR gear because it's marksmanship, so it's really just osode/seiyru's and ohat etc. Used nearly the same setup since I was Lv71 in pseudo merit PT's and always the same results, so not a true test of this theory but I think it may have some merit.

    Re: Weaponskill -accuracy question

    I always load up on a lot of RAcc for WS. Missing one 2-2.5k Sidewinder hurts a lot more for your overall damage than having an average of 50-100 damage less.

    Re: Weaponskill -accuracy question

    That's the stance I would take too, to use a lot of extra racc in order to fire off the WS more reliably and possibly earlier, which should cause greater damage overall than waiting to higher TP and using STR gear or such.

    I was wondering mainly because I see a lot of RNGs suggesting you just load up on STR for Slugwinder; assuming most RNGs are at 95% capped accuracy, this would support the theory that the accuracy penalty is calculated from resultant normal accuracy, as opposed to calculating the penalty and THEN working out the resultant accuracy. That said, it could be the whole "STR > everything else" attitude for Weaponskills which you see a lot.

    RNG is perhaps the best extreme example of this; this concerns mainly my Guillotine on a personal level, but I'm interested in this area as a whole.
