Today one thing that made me very mad occurred, and now I am asking you, BG, for help or suggestions on what I should do. First, this is a little bit of my background:
I am a colombian immigrant, currently a resident, and I have lived in the United States for almost 4 years now. My mother, is also a colombian immigrant but she has lived here for around 10 years if I'm not incorrect.

Now, here's the story:
My mother has her own cleaning business, where she cleans houses for sets amounts of money. So today she had to go clean the house that she regularly cleans, which she has been cleaning for 2 years. This is the house of a married couple, and I believe they live with their daughter. So today, she was working there in the afternoon. The husband was there, and the first thing my mom noticed was that the man had taken his pants off, but to not jump into conclusions, she chose to ignore it (at this point, he was nowhere near her). He walked around the house like that but didnt do anything that harrassed her directly (although at this point some things could be considered harrassment). The man was drinking alcohol, another thing that he did was cut a can of what I believe my mom told me was beer in half, then put some solution in there and was smoking it (we believe its drugs, but we cant jump into conclusions). My mom was scared to death, but she was somewhat relieved after he left. But to her remorse, he came back later, and surprisingly took his pants off yet again (Makes you want to punch him in the face). At this time, she was cleaning the couple's room and he came in, took his pants off and started to masturbate behind her, almost rubbing on her. She called him on it and he backed off, when she was cleaning the shower, he came in and Stood wide open telling her to pour water over his penis. During the whole thing, he offered her 500 dollars to give him oral sex. She had a chance to walk away from him and immediately called the police, when they came, he denied everything he had done. The police knew he was a blatant liar, but they couldnt do much about it since there werent any witnesses.

One week prior to thanksgiving he had gotten drunk and walked around the house naked basically masturbating. That day he didnt do anything against her, but he ended up giving her a check of 200 dollars outside of her pay, with 60something dollars in cash. She didnt jump into conclusions and didnt escalate the situation at that time.

Sexual harrassment is obvious here, but I also see some discrimination as well. We are colombian, and he assumed that because my mom didnt have the best english in the world, she wouldnt tell anyone about the incident.


Now I ask you BG, more specifically those who are more familiar with laws, what should we do? I obviously think that we should press charges on him, but what are our other alternatives? What else should we do that we are ignoring? And what kind of punishment would he get?

But yes, I would definitely pursue pressing charges. My mom is from another country also, and that shit infuriates me that he felt he could get away with something like that. Even if there are no witnesses and isn't convicted, just to have the charges on his record can mess him up.

1. If your mom is ok with that kind of stuff, enjoy the cash and get a new car.

2. Since she is obviously NOT ok with it, have her bring a video camera in her purse next time, and consult legal assistance. That or just do the fucking obvious thing and STOP FUCKING CLEANING THE GUYS HOUSE YOU TWIT.

That would be my advice. I'd also suggest telling that dude's wife exactly why she won't clean their house anymore. If the police won't do anything, she certainly will.

People who smoke shit out of cut-in-half beer cans are DEFINITELY using illegal drugs. (Might just be weed if your mom doesn't have the nose for it) - don't apologize for jumping to conclusions.

Also, if you're after money you won't get it without a video camera (or at least tape recorder - easier) with him soliciting her for sex. Walking around naked probably won't cut it for "sexual harassment in the workplace" - you'll also need an aggressive and/or opportunistic lawyer.

Easier than this is tell your mom to stop cleaning for him, and then phone #/name/address on 4chan - hopefully they will agree to be your personal army for this, and they will -for sure- make sure his wife finds out about it. Although pics will probably be required to motivate them.

But seriously, file a complaint with your local authorities. They may or may not do something about it, but at least he will be on their record in case he does some shit later on. And of course, I'd be goddamn to allow my mums to go back to that place, I assume yours won't either.
