Caimpain exp vs meripo exp

Answer me this since it seems that the more you do in campain relates to how much exp you get. Where will you get the most exp/LP per hour? Campain? or meripo?

I have gotten in upwards of 2k for 20 min of work, which if i kept rolling at that rate is 10k/hr. This is not bad. but I could use some more input on this

enlighten me and the rest of us... will campain itsself be the new meripo?

If you're a guy who only merits with LS people and you're either waiting for an event to happen or people to log on to merit, campaign is great. I don't think you're going to beat 23k/h however.

2k for 20m of work? thatd be 6k a hour. A good merit pt can get 30-35k a hour. my guess would obviously merits get more, but campaign is more fun :D

I hope the rest of BG helps perpetuate the myth that Campaign > meripo, so when I actually do go to do merits I won't have a drg/blu/pld/smn party killing 1 bird every 5 minutes at greater colibri camp.

Campaign cannot compete with a decent merit party. (It'll blow a shitty merit pt or a party with a mishmash setup probably.)

Campaign has its purpose though: recapping buffers, mindless fun while LFP, an alternative to a shitty PT to name a few.

Also helps when AU is overrun and your party leader says your going to Flayers, Flans or Wamouracampa to exp.

Merits will still be merits, Campaign offers a constant besieged system that caters to people who are tired of the same old same old or want to avoid partaking in a shortbus PT.

If you are one of the cookie cutter jobs at 75 a normal PT will easily outdo campaign.


Campaign really shines at capping your LS PLD buffers and getting easy exp on L65~+ jobs.

Here is my whole take on the whole debate(which we've been having in my LS lately).

Obviously if you can get 2BRDs and some top tier DD then sitting in bottom colbri camp will net you way more exp then doing campaign.

The part of Campaign I like is that it is CASUAL. I can log in on my lunch do 3 quick campaigns in Jugner(4lyfe) net about 3k exp and be on my merry way.

For me personally this will net me merits and exp buffers a lot quicker. Simply because I don't generally have the time to set up a merit party and I hate pick ups.

I like campaign simply because I'm no obligated to stick around for x amount of time if I get in a party. I can do a few battles, wander off to do something IRL, come back, do a few more, etc. However, when I'm serious about merits or XP, I try to get a party. Campaign is a lot slower than most parties imo.

Yeah, as a pre-60 SAM I was getting less than 300 a lot. Now that I'm 63 SAM, I'm getting more. It could be tied to the amount of damage you do though. Obviously higher levels are going to do more damage, and possibly that will be the reason they earn more rewards.

Theres teirs to the units that attack. 2k+ experience will only come from when you get 3 waves of high end units. Would be hard to be able to hit 3 of those in an hour to get best experience, since you never know which area they will be attacking until it gets into full swing.

I don't party with random people, and I dislike XPing at all.

In Campaign, I get a merit a day, every day. As I had only gotten merits through Besieged before, I'm in love with Campaign.

Would a merit party get more XP/hr? Sure. Could I get a merit party with my BRD 75? I'd have to beat invites off with a stick. But do I want a merit party? No way in hell.

Campaign is fun, plus there's plenty of downtime to do non-FFXI stuff, plus you make AN which will likely be worth as much as IS and CP soon.

The most XP/hr isn't the final answer to things, at least not to me.

WotG zones are a godsend for EXP overall anyways, they are alot of camps that will spread players out up until the merit situation.

Sigil is win for those low level PTs that are usually hellish.

I've gotten from lv71 to lv72 SAM with Campaign. It fucking rocks and hella fun. Only problem I have is that it doesnt give me skill ups for my great katana.

I think with Campaign, you would have more freedom in that because it happens so frequently everywhere you can pretty much join at any point in time without seeking/relying on 5 other members. This is especially true when you are leveling unwanted jobs like SMN (like I am... LV66) and such.

Ultimately I would choose LS meripos over campaign for productivity. For fun I would choose Campaign.

This is an honest question, no flame. I want to know where the hell you're camping to get 35k/hr. @_@ Super elite party or not, I can't see getting over 28-30k, 30k being iffy. There's only 6 people allowed in a single party - unless you're using an outside healer. I've seen one party doing that, and it was just cheap. PM please.

Also, 2k/20min is 10k/hr if the hour has 100 minutes in it! :D (I got 2k exp earlier today for about ~25 minutes in Campaign including a small 3-5min break and 2 deaths).

I can't agree that it's a godsend. Sure there's camps everywhere, but any time I have tried making a party, the majority of the party doesn't have the maws to that zone, so unless I spend a good portion of an hour escorting them, we're not going to exp in a new zone. So what ends up happening is we end up going back to the old zones and grinding out in boring areas again because it's very hard to make parties in new zones.

They should have put another anniversary ring type item that is a reward for picking up all the Maws, just so people have incentive to go get them all.



As for the question in the original OP, he asked which is more, not what is important to you most, so the answer is a Merit point party is definitely more exp/hr than campaign could ever be.

I got 1.8k exp in Campaign on my 68NIN and 1.5k on my 61THF. Doesn't seem like lower caps but they were both long Campaigns, just think you need to do a bit more.

This shouldn't even be a discussion. Even a bleh Merit party should crush Campaign in terms of exp/hr.. Campaign is good for when you don't don't have time to party, don't feel like making a party or while you are seeking. It's fun, easy exp but it in no way compares to a party, mainly because it is so random. Sometimes you get the 300xp battle, sometimes you get 2k one.
