    Blu and Perdu Wand

    I dont know if it has been asked before, but would it be worth getting a perdu wand for bluemage? 34/39 damage and 5acc/14 atk... blu get a B- skill (240) I wonder if it would make a decent offhand weapon.

    Any thoughts?

    The jump from 240 to 276 (or 269, forgot) you will lose more attack and acc than a perdu wand can give you on that hand. If you have capped acc everywhere like every single blu in FFXI has (and outparses their whole party 3x over while saving their allience from wiping), then sure go for it, but you're really better off with another sword.

    well since i got my hanger, i been offhanding the ifrit for the str and whatnot, it also has 10 atk so its not that much of a loss from perdu. I am just trying to muck about wtih what would be the best things to use. Thanks for the help!

    The only possible uses I can think of for perdu wand for blu is offhand while sighting skeletons on which your accuracy is capped, and no-one is casting banish, and the slashing immune floor of apollyon SE. But for either of those situations.....who even cares?

    With just a suppa, your club is 34 skill behind sword, with sword merits, suppa, and no club merits(who merits club?...), it's 50 skill behind. Even counting the latent on perdu wand, your offhand would still be 35 atk and 40 acc behind a sword with no stats.

    Long story short: no @ topic.

    Bias to what? BLU75 here, I am just sick of a lot of blu topics that pop up saying how they cured cancer with one hand and performed open heart surgery with the other.

    I found Perdu Wand VERY useful when
    - Fight skeletons / Magic Pots
    - Apollyon SE

    Of course I traded it.

    I don't really think so, Delekii. I think people tout BLU sword DoT in <insert event, XP/Dyna/etc> a bit too much, our damage is certainly superior from spells, so why not focus on that? I know our Club Skill isn't that great, but with Homam and all the acc we get, I don't see it being that much of an issue. I guess ideally you'd TP in Morrigan's Robe, with Mistilteinn offhand, a steady 2MP/tic would beat some extra sword DoT, because you could cast that much more. The more MP we have, the more effective we are, imo.

    [edit]When you think of it, most of the time on BLU I have TP, more often than not under 100%, because i'm not holding TP very often, maybe a few seconds here and there when CA is up in a few seconds. If I did my math right (which I often don't :/ 60 Minutes x 60 seconds / 3 seconds for 1 tic), thats 1200 "tics" in one hour. Now, obviously you won't be getting 1200MP, you'll have 0TP sometimes, or if you're not fighting for a bit, it can drain your TP dry (Running around in Dynamis from one pull to another, Limbus zoning up floors, and of course when you WS, or use CA), but I wouldn't think it's a high estimate to say you can get an extra 800MP/hr from off handing a Mistilteinn. That's an extra what, 10~12 F.Rips or Disseverments, which has to be at least comprable to the extra DoT you'd get from off handing another sword (Not like your Mistilteinn won't hit giving some DoT as well, obviously not as much as a sword) Of course, it might not get used on extra damage, you might need an extra heal here and there, or sleep, or some such. Of course, if you gained significantly less than 800MP/hr from it, then I think it would be a poorer choice.

    Overall, i think there's a valid case for using a Mistilteinn in your off hand on BLU. Looking at your comparison:

    TPing in Vermy vs Other TP Bodies:

    Vermy vs Homam/SH+Walahra Turban = You lose 15 (or 10 or 12) Accuracy, 5% Haste and a small chunk of MP.
    Vermy vs AJ: You lose a tiny amount of Accuracy, 5% Haste and MP, and 18 Attack.

    Offhand Mist vs Offhand Ifrit's Blade:

    Mist: Lose 3TP/tic while you have TP, gain 1MP/tic, lose a large chunk of accuracy for your off-hand only, lose .... i'd like to say a moderate amount of DoT? Not massive? You would know this better.
    Ifrit's Blade: 3 STR and +10 Attack, keep better offhand Accuracy and DoT.

    I guess overall it goes more to your style of play than anything else. If I owned a Mist, i'd love to test it, maybe one day, as my friend has one. I try to keep my DoT as high as possible on BLU, ~390-400 attack without any food, but I don't think i'd mind the loss of DoT and Acc in my offhand for all that extra MP.

    For meriting, at bird camp I'm doing 85% damage of relic SAM with Perdu Hanger/Ifrit's Blade/Homam/etc. Melee damage per Spell damage ratio from parser is 9:10 so I can't really ignore my melee damage at all. With meatkabobs on here and there, my Vorpal Blade can reach 800-900ish quite often. MP is not an issue here since you can cast MP Drainkiss on any colibri.

    If I have to switch my Ifrit's Blade to Perdu Wand in normal event, it would be suck. However, for Apollyon SE, this item is a MUST.

    I always carry a club around on BLU/NIN
    When I exp (read solo), I used to use the Perdu Perdu combo. Not bad, but probably better stuff out there.
    I recently got hands on a Seveneyes. That's been decent and I've hung up the Perdu Club for the time being.
    I'm liking the damage and when I exp (read: solo Campaign) the support is perfect on it.
    I've never used Club for black halo on SC, but maybe in some freak HNM lifetime, that could happen... Just hasn't happened to me yet.
