A project for translating the PSX version of Tales of Phantasia has been going on by phantasian productions for quite a few years now, and in the past few weeks they have been making a lot of progress.

OH wow! Yes I didn't even know someone was doing it. I hope this is out soon I absolutely can't wait. PSX version of ToP is seriously the damn best.

lol it's been going for like 7 years. He's made a lot of progress over past few weeks, and should hopefully have a patch by the end of the year if everything goes well, I think.

Few years ago I was up on this translation project, but it didn't look like it was going anywhere after some time, so I stopped paying attention. I am so fucking glad it's almost done, I always wanted to play the PSX version. (Love the PSX version intro too).

I thought the GBA version was going to be the answer to my prayers... oh how wrong I was.

Finally looks like I'll be able to play it.

Much appreciated heads up. I remember trying to get into ToP after playing Tales of Destiny and ToD2 (or Tales of Eternia) on the PSX and I just couldn't bear the automated attacks after playing through the PSX titles on manual. Definately looking forward to this... although I'll have to find an ISO when it's all said and done.

Cless's patch isn't being released yet, but throughhim's patch is going to be released on Christmas.

I don't think it'll be as good as Cless's patch (whenever it comes out) but something is better than nothing for now I suppose?
