black screen DCs on ps2

i'm pretty sure its related to wotg due to a lsmember also having the same issue, but is anyone else on PS2 getting disconnected in sea or any other area by having the screen just randomly go black?

most of the time it has happened in sea, when i am in an alliance, and a decent amount of stuff is going on. but i've also had it happen in whitegate when i talk to NPCs in high traffic areas.

This was happening to me before WotG on my PS2 along with freezing up in WG. Made numerous GM calls and they aall just tell me to reboot and try agian gonna try my ps3 when i get around to loading ffxi on it and see if it still happens.

Same situation happens to one of my friends. Sometimes randomly, sometimes on npcs in whitegate.

The PS2 sea blackscreen thing has been going on since before ToAU. It sucks pretty hard, too. It does mostly come up in larger alliances, especially when you have BRDs (which makes it awesome if you're a BRD and playing on PS2). Between this and the NPC Whitegate freeze, I'm actually considering using Windows at home for the first time in 9 years >.> It seems like SE decides they have fixed it, but they just haven't. I've been unable to progress past the first Serpent General quest for a similar reason, which as a big quest fan really angers me (yet another issue they claimed to have fixed).

Yeah just got it loaded on ps3 and still freezes Whats even worse than freezing is PS3 + FFXI + 42"LCD. This is worse than looking at your naked grandmum But PS3 + Uncharted + 42"LCD = WIN so i aint unhooking it.

regarding the sea crashes on PS2, this was something someone posted a while back about the issue. i play on PC, so i can't vouch for the accuracy, usefulness, or intelligence of the suggestion, i only provide it in case it does work.

This has been happening to our ls forever. Happens every time a summoner bloodpacts. We have alltogether banned smns from inside events in sea, seems to have stopped the problem. Odd thing is, one member that is used to happen to says she turned down the brightness on ffxi and it kept her stable during bloodpacts. I actually thought of posting here a long time ago, but asked around and no other ls seemed to know what i was talking about.

I never figured out the reason, but it doesn't seem to be entirely random. It's never happened to me often but on more than one occasion everyone in our alliance playing on a ps2 in sea has gotten the black screen. There were at least 7 of them, including myself, and they all went down

Sometimes my char'll sit there for long periods of time before the dialogue text'll pop up at the coin NPC and the Sanction NPCs. Nothing else in the game causes me to lock up. I can just get Sanction in Al Zahbi so that's no problem but you can only get coins from Whitegate and it's usually a 1/3 chance that I'll lock up and maybe a 1/10 chance that my screen blacks out.

Never had a problem in Sea.

Yeah, Some Whitegate NPC's are a problem for everyone using a PS2 however what the op is referring to is not the game just freezing, but the screen going black

Several members on PS2/3 used to d/c all at the same time when an Aern did TP moves. I was able to prevent myself from d/cing if I turned my camera to face the wall and not the Aern (needed the Aern to be completely off my screen). This worked because I am a WHM and would be some distance away from tht fight, but I doubt that a melee would be able to keep the enemy complely off their screen...

It happens primarily in the Gardens/Palace around the Ix' spawn points, middle of WG, and during massive zerg rushed (ie: KV, DL). And if you don't get the black screen of death, your screen freezes while you pray for it to unlock and move better than .01 FPS

Also, it's been going on since long before ToAU release.

The only place i freeze is in White Gate. I actually stopped using the warp taru there because it's just too annoying to deal with.

im in PC and i get the same problem when i zone into mh and some other zones black sreeen is a pain it hadded to me on a pt to babiki bay on the manaclipper they were not happy i had to reboot.

The Runic Portal pass guy has frozen for me before on PS2. I've had the Sea black screening, but now that I think about it, it only happens when I'm on SMN. LOL. I guess I'll go BLM onry from now on.
