    Disconnect Issue

Is anyone else having problems with random DC's this evening? Half my Limbus group tonight ended up DC'ing at random intervals. We ended up wiping & timing out on Dhamels due to a DC'ed WHM and our sleepers either dead or DC'ed.

Had a few DCs in dynamis, but nothing out of the ordinary I don't think.

Ya, when I logged on was having serious connections problems. D/c'd like 3 times in Assault and again right before was gonna enter Salvage. Had the LS wait 5 min for me so I could re-configure my router and had no problems since then.

    Re: Disconnect Issue

I was about to make a post about this.

So, I get a certain kind of disconnect that is quite wierd. I don't R0, and normally I can see data coming in, LS chat etc just fine. On my fiance's PC I will see myself red-dotting but *I can still chat and interact with the game*. After like 30 seconds I get "no information received from host".

Now this is where it always gets good. If I try to log right back into my character I get "Downloading Data..." for 30 seconds and then it times out. If I logout and log to a mule, I get right back in instantly, back to my main and again "Downloading Data..." for 30 seconds and another DC.

I typically have to wait about 10 minutes before it will let me login to the zone I was in, sometimes faster but usually at least a 5 minute wait. All my other characters on the account will work fine. BTW when it happens every PC in my house (and both accounts we play) are affected. Comcast throttling 4tw? Granted I've been away for 2 years but I've never seen that specific kind of DC before, ever. I'm using a Belkin N1 router currently...any known FFXI problems with that or are there any specific settings people use for FFXI nowadays?

Also on Siren, like the OP.

That happens to me as well. Though sometimes when I log onto my mule and then a few minutes later try to log onto my char I get the message that it is already signed on.

    Yes!

Exact same... When I get the "Downloading Data..." I believe the character is actually logging in, but for some reason the confirmation is not being received at my client, as I also occasionally see "Character already logged in." My fiance and I will get the exact same message. To me it looked like a routing issue, but I don't have any other issues at my house (have had ftp/web servers up for over a year with no problems) and I'm not a noob to networking but I certainly can't figure out what triggers this.

Very glad to hear someone else has seen the same thing, it's driving me nuts. Who is your ISP?

Hm, I was having random disconnects in Southern Sandy yesterday. The only unusual aspect was that it happened several times in a row, which led me to think I was going to have to quit for the night, but it stopped after I escaped Sandy and once I came back it was fine. Comcast here.

I have the exact same problem as well. I have a netgear router routed through a shitty router built into our cable modem (have to use it), I just enable DMZ on the shitty router. Pretty sure it's a problem on SE's end, but good luck getting them to admit that.

Oh, glad it's not just me then. Mass d/cing yesterday, even as I played next to my router. And I just d/c'd twice in a row about 5 mins ago...very unbecoming of my laptop, I rarely d/c, even in Beseiged/Campaign/Dynamis.

My router set up is the same, a router through a router to the cable modem. Do you think that's part of the problem? I heard you are supposed to make a static IP with the second router and disable DHCP... but never understood that technobable.... anyone have ideas? Maybe just a Siren issue mostly?

Well I'm on Bahamut, so it can't just be a Siren issue.

I just don't understand how it could be a router issue if my other 3 mules accounts are working fine while I need to wait 10-20m to get on my main. I've restarted my computer, restarted the modem and router and anything else I could think of, but none of that helped. It does not happen often though, maybe 1-2 times a month at most. If I use windower to DC me I don't have any issues, only the strange DC that others were talking about.

I don't know... I just assume that if it's something freaky with the router that my connection would stop working completely or at least that I would see the same issue with mules... I've also left my main logged in for 2-3 days at one point and had zero issues, so I don't know.

Yesterday morning my entire merit party R0ed and red-dotted at once. We all saw everyone with a red dot, it was amusing.

I was thinking the same, but wondering if somehow it was a specific packet sequence for the character I was using. As I stated earlier, when it happens it will hose both my and my fiance's characters. We can both log to mules but not back to the characters we were on.

And yeah, also I can restart the PC/router/cable modem and NOTHING helps, just have to wait a certain amount of time until the server resets my toon.

Due to DDoS Attacks from third parties the February update has been postponed to June.

I just got a weird look from my boss cause I lol'd.

I personally haven't had any DC issues besides ones that are caused from my ISP, which thankfully are infrequent.

Yeah, I've had some major problems signing in the last 3-4 days, takes 3 or 4 tries; and last night I got some of those instant abrupt dc's.. 3 to be exact, while in Valley of Sorrows camping Aspi (sucked cuz one happened as it popped and I missed out on the fun of someone outside alliance for a shell claiming and being invited by another shell and Aspi thus getting taken.. boo). Another friend in shell has had a lot of dc issues lately, but it's been going on a while and he thinks it's more his own connection, but maybe not, now realizing how widespread this is. :/

Me and a couple of pals all d/c'd at the same time last night, 3 times in a row. Unfortunately, we were in the higher end part of the Temple of Uggalepih when it happened, surrounded by Tonberries.

Not a pretty sight when we logged back in. >.<
