You can tell he's clearly getting pissed though that Stuart was owning him and the audience was laughing at him.
Jonah Goldberg is a partisan hack.. he deserves everything he gets.Originally Posted by Norelco

Mussolini was talking about Hilary Clinton. Classic.
Why is it that some people take such issue with the idea of government helping its people?
LOL ORGANIC FOOD
I nearly fell out of my chair laughing on the organic food part.
It was a beautiful intellectual smack-down though. I loved the part when the audience got where Jon was going, but Jonah Goldberg didn't see the trap that he just fell into...Originally Posted by Norelco
I think Goldberg walked in expecting a Larry King interview. John Stewart cares too much about being funny to give a Larry King interview.
It's highly likely the Daily Show can continue to trap guests like this who aren't expecting an interviewer with an actual set of balls. You don't see someone's true colors show until they're confronted with something that isn't sugar-coated or watered-down to answer for.
One of the smaller TV channels over here airs the Daily Show, I've never got round to watching it, but after seeing this clip I really must make time.
I watch the Daily show every time I can and saw this last night. Jon Stuart rarely goes at it like this with guests but this one just seemed like he didnt know what he was talking about. Some of the funniest interviews I find are with Jake Gillenhaul(I have no idea how to spell his last name, dude from Zodiac).
I'd like to see the whole interview. Make it happen BG.
And in the statement "but this one just seemed like he didnt know what he was talking about" you were referring to Jonah Goldberg, correct? Because Jon owned the living shit out of him and strangled him with his own asinine arguments.Originally Posted by sephir
That interview was so fucking epic, I knew it was gonna be good when Stuart said it was originally 15 or w/e minutes long. lol
Personally I think that Stuart wasn't thinking where homeslice was coming from on a number of points. Of course, had homeslice elaborated on a few of them I think Stuart might not have had the opportunity to jump the gun and steer his conversation in a direction it wasn't meant to go. The thing about Fascism related to uniforms, for instance. I think what the guy was trying to convey is that people generally associate fascism with a number of generic images.
Be that as it may, you go on Stuart's show, you better be freakin' prepared and smart as hell, because he'll rip you a new one if you're not a quick thinker and able to debate with ease.
So what he was saying is he doesn't like the ease with which people throw around the word 'facism'?Originally Posted by Fhqwghads

The guy was making far too many, "because the Nazis and fascists did this, and we're doing something similar now, we're Nazi/Fascist" points, which is inherently flawed. Of course there were going to be some beneficial things the Nazis and Fascists did for their countries, they wouldn't have stayed in power for so long if they left their people to only fend for themselves. It'd be like saying "Hitler smoked this brand of cigarettes, so if you do you're a Nazi." Just totally stretches logic.
While true, Jon rightly pointed out that he seemed to have the same ease of using the word that he railed against.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Here I'll summarize the interview.
Guest: Hi I'm a conservative.
Stewart: [makes sarcastic comment that doesn't actually make any sense]
Guest: [tries to make conservative joke that audience obviously won't find funny]
Stewart: HAHAHA YOU USE LOTS OF BIG WORDS! [audience laughs]
Guest: [tries to explain what's in his book]
Stewart: [makes wild gestures and another sarcastic comment] [audience laughs again]
Stewart: HAHAHA YOU STUPID I FUNNY! [audience laughs some more]
