ATI drivers and a change XP pro CD key

So, I was using a XP CD key that Microsoft didn't like and went about changing it to one that gave them the warm fuzzies.

This had the unintended side effect of making it so that the graphics drivers for my X800 aren't recognized and XP uses an older set of ATI drivers. Everything still works, but XI runs like crap compared to what it used to run at. I've been tolerating it, but I want to fix it without an OS reinstall. I'm about to try uninstalling the card, deleting the registry entries and reinstalling, but has anyone else encountered anything similar to this?

Edit: Second rip/repave of drivers worked. Ye haw.

So did you just change your XP key, and nothing else? What did you use to change it? Ive changed my laptop key manya times with http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml and never had any sort of problem with anything ever.

I deleted the keys registry entry and then re-registered windows with another one. Not the most graceful of solutions but its works.

...until shit stops working.
