I wish I could find the statistic, but there was discussion on the subject of alimony payments on a radio interview that I was listening to about a month ago. It was one of those notable attorneys doing pro bono work by sitting on calls during a radio program down in Tampa, FL.

The caller wanted to know if it was possible to restructure his alimony payments (it is). He apparently had changed jobs to something that paid significantly less, and coupled that with living expenses for the place he was at made the current alimony unbearable.

At any rate, the show's host made a comment about how women get such great deals, etc. etc. on divorces, which prompted another personality on the show to ask the attorney what the man-to-woman alimony ruling ratios were nowadays.

The attorney answered (paraphrase), "roughly 47% of alimony rulings are against the wives." Meaning, according to this attorney, women are instructed to pay alimony 47% of the time that a ruling on alimony is made in the court.
