Duoing question

A friend and I have decided to start back up again during the summer. We began playing around 2004 and both quit around 2006. Us leaving was mainly due to the fact of end game drama and such, which is what we are mainly trying to avoid now. What my question is, what would be the ideal job/subjob for duoing? I know much has changed with the new expansion which is why I've come to ask this question. We really just want to get that brand new feeling of the game back, most of which came from the low levels.

What do you mean specifically by "duoing"? Do you two plan on doing 2man stuff your entire careers? Or just two easy jobs to get to 37 duo? Or easiest to get to 75 duo?

Any pet jobs would be pretty decent for duoing.

I've been in a trio recently of DRG/NIN(or WAR/NIN) BRD/DNC and RDM/DNC. Recently dinged to 44. We typically target T-VT but can take out low IT's and have been partying exclusively in WoTG for Sigil and easy travel. Dancer sub has been doing very very well in this small group(xp around 5-8khr). I would imagine RDM/DNC(or DNC/Melee) + Melee would be pretty nice for mowing down T mobs.

Depends on what you wanna do once you hit 75. Do you wanna farm some NM's together? Craft? Duo sea? Duo sky? Join into a shell and hope to avoid drama? xD

I duo'd with my friend to 75, both of us BLMs. I loved it, was alot of fun xp'ing and we get to do alot of stuff together mainly in Sea and random NM's. However if you would wanna duo HNM, duo blm isn't very useful >.>. If you wanted to do jeuno HNM(serket/roc/cc/etc) NIN and BRD(or whm) is always an awesome duo. 2x BLU is also very good. If you wanna do sea and sky, 2x BLM, 2x RDM, RDM+BLM, RDM+NIN, 2x BLU all good for it.

I guess alot of it depends on what you like, and what you wanna do.

To answer some questions yes we would like to do just about everything duo wise. HNMLS are out of the question right now because of what we have dealt with previously.

Job wise my friend mainly wants to be melee class whereas I don't really mind what class I am. He previously had leveled DRG to 75 and has shown interest in the class again. Subbing WHM or NIN has been brought up while I go RDM/WHM.

Also, if we both decided to level a melee class would one of us subbing DNC and the other sub NIN be a suitable choice?

If you both did a melee class, /nin and /dnc would be ok except for any sort of HNM or harder NM(like sea jailers).

IMO mnk and rdm(or sch) make an awesome duo if he wouldn't wanna do nin. You could possibly switch out rdm for blu if you would want more of a challenge. That's just my thoughts though.
