    Tempurpdic mattress question to owners

Ok well I didn't want to bump the old topic about beds so I'm going to make a new one. Recently my back has decided that it's going to hurt on my old shitty mattress so I'm going to spend the money on a new mattress and it's going to be a tempurpedic, but I have a few questions first.

On the tempurpedic site they have like 15 different mattresses to choose from, now, price isn't really a factor in my decision since I know a mattress is the best investment you can make, but the original bed is 8 inches of foam and its 1200 bucks. To get the 10 inches of foam its 2200, and to get 15 inches of foam its like 5.6 grand. I'm wondering is the extra foam really worth the investment? Which bed would you all reccomend? Right now I'm looking at the celebrity bed because the pillowtop shit looks really comfortable. All the different mattresses are here: http://www.tempurpedic.com/sleep_systems/

Also, the other question I have might seem silly but.... are these good to have sex on? I mean bouncing around and all doesn't seem like it would work on a tempurpedic.

Anyways, thanks in advance. My back is gonna die if I don't get a new mattress soon so thanks for your help! ><

honestly it really varies from person to person, have you tried laying on one of them? i would never ever be able to sleep on a temperpedic matress.

i got a Sealy Posturepedic, and it's real nice. Forgot how much it cost tho, I'm thinking 1200 for a Queen size with delivery and taxes. As for sex it's pretty decent, don't really know much of a difference tbh. But my GFs bed got really squeaky after not long and mine still perfect

    Ideally you'll test them.

My aunt owns several Tempurpedic mattresses at her house. I stayed with her for two months not long ago and slept on her bed and man oh man...it was the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. I woke up feeling refreshed and wonderful. In as much, I would recommend that you try one out for yourself, however my experience was wonderful

I went to brookstone today, was a bitch to get to but they didn't have all of them, just the basic ones and that's one of the only retailers by me.

Pillowtop: I had reservations about it at first. Thought I didnt need it and was only for old people, but its actually nice. It grows on you with its comfort, can just lay down and melt in. You notice it most when you go back to a regular spring mattress.

Sex: You obviously dont have an indoor trampoline anymore, but its not quicksand like how I first imagined it would be. Comfyness carries over, with a vast improvement in traction, sturdiness, and grip.

I actually own a tempurpedic pillow, however, the mattress is a different story, it depends on how you sleep on how effective it is. They're also extremely expensive and the basic mattress should cover your needs, and paying an extra 5 grand for more foam wont make a world of difference with one of those.

    Your signature is fucking awesome.

As far as these expensive mattresses go I don't see how the casual person spends like 3-5 grand on a mattress. That's a lot of money, do you get to pay in installments or are you saving up to buy one in most cases?

Re: Tempurpdic mattress question to owners

I always liked the Rhapsody. I don't know if its still offered, its been a while since I worked with these. The Grand King (the 7-9k one) is HEAVY and a major pain in the ass to move around. The Tempurpedic guys will always try and push the higher end models on you. From personal experience, even the "lower" end ones are awesome beds.

Things I think you should consider when you are looking at these:
    1. How tall is your bed going to ultimately be with the mattress. I would say the #2 reason for exchanges on beds when I used to deliver them was they were too high (people don't like having to pole vault into bed). #1 being comfort, but this one wasn't an issue with Tempurpedics. If you are having back aches, you might not want to have to literally jump into bed.

    2. All Tempurpedics come with a removable cover for washing. However, any of the pillow top ones are not completely removable (they zip off the bottom, but they do not remove from the pillow top) and if you have any pets that are allowed on or near the bed these covers are like magnets for hair.

On their website, they have a listing of hotels that offer their mattress so you can actually test it out over night and see how you like it.
    Try that.

    Personally, I don't like it.
I like a firm mattress and it feels like I'm a huge, fat sinkhole when I lay on the tempurpedic.
Also, it smells like a medicine cabinet.

I'm still looking at the celebrity and I think that's what I'm going to go with, I found a store that had one on display and that pillowtop quilt thing was orgasmic to lay down on @_@
Now to come up with 3500 dollars.

I have a sensorpedic mattress and love it. It is a little softer than the temperpedic mattresses meaning it doesn't take as long to sink into it. It was also 1200 instead of 2400. I really love the thing. I've noticed I sleep better at night and naps in the after are shorter and much more fulfilling. Don't know what else to say. I fucking love it.

If you find a bed that really works for you, it's one of the best investments you can make in quality of life.

Plus most the high-end mattresses have 30-90day trial periods if they don't work out, though I'd recommend trying any new one for a least a month. First couple weeks you'll be still adjusting to it, and may actually have worse sleep well this happens.

Nothing like sleeping on foam rubber on a hot humid night.
