Weird Server Related Glitch

I'm not sure if this belongs here but if it doesn't feel free to move it. However this is a pretty serious issue for me and a friend and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced it

I am unable to enter instanced zones or exit from them including salvage, assault, mission BCNMs that zone you. Basically anything that zones you from one zone to a temporary zone for BCNM I experience this glitch. OR If i'm lucky enough to get into the zone upon leaving I'll be blackscreen. The GM described the glitch as "I get disconnected physically from the server however the server still thinks that character is there". This allows me to be on TWO characters on the SAME account at the SAME time. During this time I am unable to log onto my main character(The one that is stuck). This began as soon as i switched to Odin server a few weeks ago (DEAR GOD ODINERS DONT SHOOT ME :O)

First example

I zone into salvage. Upon zoning in all the doors are closed I can see the party on the map, listen to their chat, and respond. However the doors are closed and I am unable to go through. I also am unable to see the characters and I'm pretty sure there unable to see me. I logged out froze me after 5 seconds had to terminate POL relog character stuck online. I log onto mule and notice my character still online. (It was online for about 14 hours and stuck in salvage during this time)

Second Example

I zone into Assault. Upon zoning in I don't see anyone and I'm disbanded from the party. I do a /sea to check the area and I see the other people there however I cannot physically see them. I send them /tells and shout however it appeared as if they didn't get them. They said stuff in /say I could see that. I try to relog the above occurs and I call a GM on my mule.

The maintenance on Odin has already happened and I transfered over before that. Before the transfer I and a friend were both able to access these areas after transfer we are no longer able to. It took 3 hours to explain this to a GM mainly because each time I said Assault he said "Did you trade your Orb for the BCNM" or "Let me get this right it occurs upon entering besieged?"

I also tried to call but cock douchebag named "Joe" said it was my fault and my ISP fault. I've also tried this on 3 different consoles 2 different states as well as ISPs. My friend plays on PS2 and lives on Venezuela I don't know how to convince him that it's not my ISP if two people in different countries with only one similarity are experiencing the same issue. Called again an hour later got a chick she was helpful and here I am now.

I really wanna be able to assault salvage, campaign ops, and hell do the majority of the content I'm paying for anyone had this issue or know of any solution? This seems like a partial corrupted data upon transfer to me at least. Has this happened to anyone else upon transferring or perhaps in general?

This used to happen to people when being tractored while inside of the final TOAU bcnm fight. No clue if it's related.

An update on the glitch when we entered assault my friend got the armband. He was unable to see any of us HOWEVER we saw him. He was considered in our pt on our screen however it said Illurisi Troll (I butchered that I know) as if he was still zoning. When we did a search he was in the zone but not in a party. Monster did not aggro him even though he ran right past him. I didn't get the glitch he was able to hear our /say though. I was able to cast on him spells that you don't have to be able to be in a pt to get however he did not see me casting nor get the message the buffs just randomly appeared. Upon exiting we both got black screen of doom and could not log on our mains. I personally think i just got lucky that i was able to enter.

FFXI: God Mode?

Ive had that issue where id be in a zone and no one could see me yet i could see them and the glitch where im in a zone yet cannot speak in party. (but the game shows me in the party and people can talk to me)

I likened them to zoning glitches though it seems like you might have stumbed onto a wonkier glitch.

How did you resolve it?

I logged out, plugged out my modem/router then restarted the game, worked fine.

I have had the Salvage glitch as well, but relogging fixed that problem for me.

Try clearing your DNS cache by rebooting your router, if you have one, and on your PC using "ipconfig /flushdns" in a dos prompt. They might be storing the old addresses of particular zones from your previous server. It's a longshot, but I've heard of several people from the same ISP getting stuck in the same zones which were resolved by some kind of DNS flush on the ISP side. Something like that anyway.

I'll do this however I don't think this is the issue because I played it at my school dorm a week ago had same problem and now that I am home I still have the same problem. I appreciate your help and am flushing my DNS

dunno if youre one of the people im talking about, but we've been doing some salvage with a couple of other recent transfers to Odin and they are having the exact same problem as you discribe.

edit: also one of the GMs apparantly asked him if he ever considered making a new character instead, though i heard this through someone else

Strange enough something similar to this happened to me about 3 years ago on my first character on PS2. I had zoned into Outer Horutoto Ruins (the tower with bomb king, doppelgangers) and decided to temp log (back when it was available) overnight and relog in the morning.

After waking up I had logged back in from temp log and tried to zone out into Saruta but I kept getting the message "You cannot currently do that action." or something along those lines. So I figured I would fully log out and back in to see if that would fix the problem. After logging back in however, I was zoned into a completely different tower (later I had found out it was the one in West Saruta, northmost) and my character was conveniently placed center in the starting platform right where you zone in.

I noticed during all this I could talk in LS chat but no one could hear me, however I could hear them. I couldn't send tells or chat in party but I could receive it, I could only really speak in /say. I could also run around the zone, but I couldn't zone out, if I warped I blackscreened and froze, and I couldn't touch any cracked walls or attack any mobs, but they could aggro and attack me.

After placing several GM calls I was told it was my ISP, my router, my firewall, basically everything was my fault somehow. I ended up calling into POL for them to tell me that they'd have it fixed in 2-5 days. I had waited a month and nothing changed so I had ended up having to start a new character.

I'm not sure how similar you'd say our situations were but they had told me, like they told you, that it was YOUR end that was screwy, not theirs. Nothing I did fixed it for me, including having my friends log in for me and try to move me so I'm hoping your situation isn't quite as dire and is fixable, as apparently mine wasn't.

GMs have tried that they are unable to. They say my character gets physically DCed but the server thinks it is there. I can log onto a mule and /sea all the character and it's still online. GMs can't force log it off either or move it.

I called a GM on my mule and asked them to move me to my homepoint when I got the yearly "Can't access certain zones or I DC as soon as I log on" that can last up to a month. GM just told me that "Sorry, can't do that. I am not allowed to help players".

Apparently GMs gets paid to screw with us.

the salvage glitch happened to one of our NIN members a long time ago in bhaflau remnants fourth floor when salvage first came out.

As for being logged into the server, if I disconnect and reconnect without first logging out past the accept/decline screen sometimes I'll be red-dotted without R0 and be able to run around and read LS chat but nothing else will interact with me.

Ive had a GM move me out of Tavnazian Safehold once when i was unable to zone out/talk to NPC's.
