Uh. . . POL won't start on first launch

I just recently started having an issue where POL Viewer won't load the first time I click the icon. I've been getting the following error messages:

Cannot open registry key for install path of PlayOnline-compatible software. ID=1000

Unable to start the PlayOnline Viewer. Please ensure that you are logged into your computer under an account with administrator rights.

I googled the error message and it says that a registry key got fucked up so I followed in instructions(at least I THOUGHT I did) and set the folder so all users get full rights to it(which shouldn't matter since I'm the admin and have no other accounts). I hope it's not the beginning of something serious so I figured I'd ask here just in case. Thanks ahead of time for your help. :D

Reinstall FFXI to get the registry entries back in there. That's the easiest way to do it.

All my registry entries are there though, I compared it to the XI install on my woman's PC. >_<

There are other registry entries besides the ones in PlayOnlineUS. You probley don't know where they are in the registry...I don't even know where all of them are.

Seriously, your best bet is to reinstall.

If I do a repair install will it clean out the registry or am I going to have to do a clean install? Looking for my XP CDs since they weren't where I thought they were, ugh.

i think service pack 3 is causing issues when you run POL 1st time after a reboot, then after that it runs fine.

Tada, that's it. Since I couldn't find my XP discs I just uninstalled everything I didn't need anymore and updated drivers etc and I haven't seen the error again although it seemed to show up randomly in the first place. Hopefully fixed for good. :D
