I'd like to crack mine. I googled it but there's tons of firmware versions and apparently its better to have it cracked on some versions rather than others... its confusing.
Has anyone done this? Can you advise me as to how to go about it? thanks.

its an original, a japanese one
running 2.60
i'm just not sure what to do and i dont wanna brick it >< any help is appreciated
Pastaing what I posting in the spam forum:
It's rather easy to do. You need a pandora battery either way, which means you'll either be hard modding it (opening the battery and cutting a lead) or soft modding it (using someone else's hacked PSP to mod your battery). I suggest just hard modding it unless you know someone with a hacked psp, its not hard to do, and once you're done you can sell the battery on ebay to lazy fucks for $50.
Anyway, once you have the battery, you need to make a magic memory stick. This flashes the custom firmware to the psp. There are a bunch of programs that can create the stick for you. Personally i like this one, it's very simple.
Then you put in the stick, pop in the battery, hit X and it'll flash the firmware. From there you can easily load all the emulators you want. http://www.psp-hacks.com has great tuts and info if you need any more info on this stuff.
He said he has the original version. I didn't need a pandora battery when hacking mine. They have fool proof programs to flash them, just hook your PSP up to the computer and run it.Originally Posted by Cephius
A pandora battery is still a pandora battery if you use a program to soft mod it for you. One way or another, you're modifying the battery to put the PSP in service mode so it can flash the custom firmware.Originally Posted by SupHammer
You don't need to modify the battery at all to hack the fat PSP's. You don't even have to enter service mode. Pandora batteries are only for hacking the slims.
edit: here OP this should be all you need : http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1134
They're for hacking fats too, but only the ones that have official firmware 280 or higher. For some reason I thought it was lower.
Can't view the link at work, but I always thought a pandora battery is needed to flash the firmware if the PSP is updated to one of the more recent official updates?Originally Posted by SupHammer
