FFXI Crashes to white screen

OK, so I built this awesome new PC

Motherboard: ASUS P5E
Video Cards: 2x ATI Radeon HD 3870 CrossfireX
Processor: Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz
RAM: 4gig DDR2 Dual-Channel
PSU: 700w

Every single game I run, runs as smooth as a baby's bottom. UT3 runs marvelous at 1680x1050, as does HL2/TF2/Portal/any other game I can think of......Then we come to the cursed game from 2003. The only game I can think of that REJECTS new technology that makes it run better. I can run the game very good, 30FPS EVERYWHERE, and holy shit I mean everywhere.

Here is my problem.

This continues to happen whenever I'm in an old zone. Jeuno/Windurst to be exact. I did campaign in Bastok[S]/Gustaberg/Sarutabaruta[S] for hours today with no crashes. The MINUTE I go back to Windurst... BLAM... screen goes white, sound starts skipping and repeating the past .5 seconds of sound. Then I have to reset the computer.

I've tried old drivers, different bios versions, reinstalling FFXI, testing RAM. I see no problems at all. I disabled Crossfire because I thought it might be that...and that wasn't it either. I'm incredibly frustrated right now. I am hating FFXI more and more every day. I don't even mean the gameplay...just the fact that they managed to pull off the shittiest port of any game EVER and REFUSE to update it.

Are there any programs I can use to test the GPU RAM? All the things I've googled are just stress tests that return FPS/how good your video card is.

I just recently switched to a 3870 from a Nvidia card(which had no freezing issues, just really bad lag in crowds), and am now getting this very same problem in multiple zones (port jeuno, lower jeuno, upper jeuno, port sandy, and now dynamis vulkurm)

can anyone shed some light on this?

I've gotten 3 PM about this so I'll just follow up here.

I removed one of my 3870 cards and the problem still happened, so I thought to myself, "Oh, well let me try the other card for shits and giggles." So I swapped them and the problem was fixed. Turns out I had a defective 3870. I just RMA'd it and am expecting a new one soon.

just switched out my 3870 for another 3870 and it appears to have fixed the problem, so i guess it was a faulty card here too

Did these white lines ever occur when you first started and windows started up?

I want to know since I might be having a simiular issue.

No it's not, that's actually what happened when the computer locked up rofl.

Also, no it never happened when I started my computer up. Only when FFXI would crash.
