For those of you who still /inv

I know a lot of people have capped merits or just join LS parties, but for those of you who still /inv... how do you respond to invites? Specifically, do you ask what the set-up is and what do you say if so? After a string of invites for main healing BLU PLD SMN BLM DNC parties in the mire, I've gotten more cautious about my invites, but a lot of the tine when I respond "{Yes, please.} What's the set-up?" I get blown off or bitched at for being picky, or told "just join it doesnt matter lulz." So, just curious, how do you respond to invites when your flag is up, assuming they don't give you the location or job set-up when they invite you?

I usually tell em to either give me the pt settup or they won't have a WHM to heal em . Hell I am even more picky when it comes on my thf. If the settup sucks, I am not joining, period. They either get all butthurt, or not respond back at all.

If for some reason I'm inviting a pickup DD and they ask my setup, I'll counter by asking their gear. My setup always includes RDM BRD and either a 2nd brd or a cor in addition to at least 1 DD i know well, usually more. If they're going to be picky about setup, they damn well better have gear to back it up. That said, if they list decent gear I'll tell them my setup and invite them, but most people get retardedly offended at the prospect that I can ask them a question relevant to exp efficiency right after they did the same.

for the past 4 years i've made 99% of my parties because i don't trust random people's judgement on this game. i can always put together solid parties, and to be honest, it kinda irks me inside when i have a 20-25k colibri burn going and people ask me for the setup, but i realize that theres a lot of shitty party members out there, so i don't mind.

the worst is when a bard asks the setup... and i'm like... sam sam nin whm brd, and the guy is like (thanks for the offer...). that makes no sense and sorta bothers me lol

WHM and a THF not exactly the best jobs to be a princess with. THF will be last pick normally for DD just before a PUP and WHM will get 1/3 the invites of a RDM. Yes I know WHM/SCH is almost the same as a RDM but it will still never get the same invites.

I understand why some people aren't picky about their parties but I play RDM and it's freaking boring, I want to spend the minimum time possible actually grinding. If that means I only PT once a week and spend the rest of my time on other stuff in and outside the game, that's perfectly fine with me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's picky, it was starting to feel that way, like I was a jerk just for asking the set-up.

I am more than happy to tell people about the party if I'm the leader. If I'm on RDM, pretty much the only stipulation I have for pick-up parties is that DDs must /NIN, simply because if I don't know you I'm not going to trust you to know a damn thing about hate control.

Generally, I'll take all invites since waiting sucks, and even if the party turns out to be a bust, I'm still (in most cases) ending up ahead of where I started.

When I was still playing if someone asked me to go sam/nin to merit I'd just lol at them and go back to fishing.

Ditto for me and my WAR/SAM, I'll just do something else instead such as farming Zeny or playing Pankymon.

You have to look at it from he perspective of a mage who doesn't know you at all. I have seen plenty of DRK/SAM pull a fuckton of hate that no one can rip from them and get owned. A lot of people who merit these days are completely fucking retarded, and I'm not going to stress myself out struggling to keep you alive if you constantly pull too much hate with no way of shedding it or at least reducing the damage done (or negating it completely). As RDM I have a good supply of MP that refills itself every 10 minutes, but I can not keep up with DD who do not have shadows in any merit party. And then I'm the one being bitched at for slowing the party down because I have to rest MP.

For DD I know and trust not to be retarded, they can sub PUP for all I care. But with people I don't know, the easiest way to ensure efficiency is to have the DDs all sub NIN. Then I can haste X4, refresh myself, and toss a few Curagas out there without ever having to worry about running out of MP.

Then again, most of all this is moot because I fucking hate meriting and I hardly ever do it.

I always ask what the set-up is. Although my standards are not all that high, some people will still build merit parties without a bard and that is just not a party worth joining.

As long as the drk uses seigan on occasion and your not exping on skoffins and mamools if you cant keep mp up then your doing your job wrong. On birds you can have drk/war drg/war and war/nin and your MP still shouldn't be running out with the drk souleatering every 5 mins for ws then canceling it.

You seem to be missing her point which I agree with. DD who know their job are easy to cure effectively. DD n00bs who think pulling hate makes them uber and then not compensating for it are not. In a pick up pt you have know idea which DD you're going to get. I do the same as Aks. If it's a pick up pt I want the DD subbing nin 'cause I don't know them and don't know if they have a clue how to play their job right. If it's with people I know aren't idiots then idc if they sub nin or not.

The issue is not /sam, the issue is whether or not you know if the person understand how to /sam in a merit pt or not. (and before saying you should ask more often then now they'll say they do even if they don't have a clue).

I realize this, but Hades is full of retards, and these are somehow the retards I always end up meriting with. Which is 99% of the reason I don't do it much in the first place. Thus, when I do decide to merit, until I'm positve you're not retarded, you need shadows to save me the headache. lol.

PS. I like main healing on my PLD. I do acceptably well as PLD/WHM in MP build, and +15% cure potency.

Lately, I ask setup. Had a few parties that made me really wish I did, and others that made me wish I went with my gut when they told me what it was too. Really doesn't matter what job I'm on much (not that I merit on things other than NIN or BRD with any regularity).

I always /sea the person who sent me a tell first too.

Maybe people think it's picky, but, IMO, if you're taking any amount of care in forming a party it shouldn't be a question you'd have a problem answering.
