Final Fantast not installed?

I bought a new laptop today. Its a Asus with Vista 64bit installed on it. I went through the entire install process, then updated everything. After about 6-7 hours of waiting, I try to load of FFXI, but it doesn't do anything. So I then tried running windower, and when it goes to hook POL it comes back with an error saying Final Fantasy XI is not installed or the registry is corrupted. I then looked into the registry and there is not an entry for playonline in there. what is going on here?

Did you just install everything off the disc....

or did you download the POL for vista off the ffxi website first?

This should solve the error. I told a friend the same thing and he had the exact same error. You need to do a special install for Vista, unless you buy the new players collection on the single DVD. Only the new collection has the updated Vista POL.
