Otige (Carbuncle)

At some point in time Otige had access to a forum's username/password list or database. I don't know what forum he had administrative access to, but he's been using said list to read my ls members' pms, email, read our private forums, etc. It is a large list of user/passwords that he's been using, probably from one of his ex ls forums, Unforgiven or Iunnrais.

This is a warning to ls on Carbuncle that have members who used to be in one of Otige's ls, or members who ever registered on a forum associated with Otige. Your forum might have a mole. Check your forum logs for IP Removed.

Also any ex Unforgiven or Iunnrais who have used forums to communicate other private info (ex toon info), or if you have communicated private information to any ex Unforgiven/Iunnrais (even on your current ls forums if those ppl used the same password), consider that this dude mighta read it and accordingly. Perhaps the other carby ls forum admins can check logs and inform their ls if this dude has been snooping around your ls' stuff or not.

Yes it's a bad idea to use the same password everywhere, but people do it. Check your forum logs for IP Removed. He's also used IP Removed, though that was several months ago.

Also, since this dude is a douche, if he hops servers or name changes, well, doesn't seem too hard to id,

Also associated in this offense is Otige's friend, Nasse. Nasse also used the farmed passwords to access our private forum. Otige and Nasse were both in Iunnrais together and shell/sack holders respectively for UnforgivenLS.

I can't show that Nasse did anything. I can absolutely prove Otige did (tcpdump showing successful logins using several usernames that weren't his). Otige might have just cut and paste the stuff for Nasse, or he mighta been in on it who knows, but imma not throw a dude under the bus on speculation. Nasse does travel with Otige though, as they applied as a pair, so that could be used to assist in identifying Otige if he name changes.

Yeah, he stole the layout for DBs member database, upon my q_qing about how he ran a dynamis linkshell. It is most likely the ancient Iunnrais database that we stopped using when Karlth broke the shell, since ZOMGZNOLIMITZOMGZ used some free BBS thing with ads which I've forgotten already.

The only reason why I looked on your forum is because we applied and nobody told us if we got in or not. I could care less if you can track my ip address or what ever you did. I don't remember the password I used to use for Iunnrais or EquilibriumX when Otige ran them. However, I do recycle passwords (however I never recycle FFXI passwords nor do I ever use forum passwords as FFXI passwords), so this could be problematic to me.

Regardless of what's going on, there are a few things ya'll need to think about.

1. This is a game. These are forums about a game. No one should post anything about their account because of possible hackings. But ya'll have taken it beyond forums and games. You just posted for the world to see, his IP addy. Unless people are completely suave with the comp., you have to look for that kind of information. And unless you're an admin, it isn't given to you freely.

You just took something that is in pixil form and turned it into a real life addy give away. Way to go.

Now I don't know that I'm going to take any of this with a grain of salt. Because simply, the games and the forums here are made to destroy people's reps. There is never an instant that goes by that someone doesn't jump on the opportunity to do so. Did O mess with your forums? Did he try to delete stuff? Did he call people names? Did he do anyone any type of harm? If not, then you're over jumping everything. I know O has done some shady shit, no one, not even you, O can deny that. But to take it to the level that ya'll have, just shows what kind of character you have as well.

And as Pergo pointed out on KI, how do ya'll not know that for Nasse? I don't know what went on with O. Someone could have very easily told them what was going on. Or someone in YOUR LS gave them THEIR password without telling ya'll? Or is denying it now to not get into trouble? There are many possibilities that ya'll are overlooking. And instead of going to him first, you start shit just simply because you can. Sigh.

Furthermore, they were right to throw up a red flag. This could have been anything until they got to the bottom of this. if If he was in one forum system somehow, he could have been in all of them. This was one person telling the rest of us admins on other forums systems to get into CYA mode.

The fact that he had to go into a forum system he shouldn't have had access to in the first place is bad enough. And from the sounds of it, it looks like he went poking around other places besides his application and could have done damage. Yeah, real smart. For those of us who are worried about our system now, his IP is fair game.
